The song "Una Copa Más" by the Mexican trio Los Tres Reyes is a poignant ballad about the end of a love affair. The title "Una Copa Más" translates to "One More Drink" in English, which sets the tone for the song as a nostalgic lament. The singer is offering another drink to their lover as they say goodbye, using it as a final goodbye and as a way to forget the love they once shared. The lyrics suggests that their love was once great but has now come to an end, possibly due to the enduring law of life that everything must die eventually.
The opening lines of the song "Una copa más, te brindo al despedirnos" which means “One more drink, I offer you as we say goodbye” sets the tone of the song immediately. The word “te brindo” is usually used for proposing a toast, but here, it is a way of saying goodbye to the loved one, indicating that this is their last meeting. The lyrics convey a sense of melancholy, as they talk about how their love was once great but will never come back. The singer talks about the bittersweet taste of the drink as a metaphor for the bitterness they feel about how their love ended.
As for the instrumentation, the music is simple and understated, dominated by a nylon string guitar that runs through the verses with a laid-back sway. The verses have a bit of a swing to them, which adds a touch of nostalgia to the song. The vocalist sings in a clear, emotive tone, conveying the sadness and regret that is embodied in the lyrics. The song's slow tempo and sparse arrangement also allows for the lyrics to take centre stage and resonate with the listener.
