Lost Lander is a project founded by songwriter/forester Matt Sheehy when he began work on a new album with producer Brent Knopf. The two often worked remotely - using the internet to communicate ideas - and from time to time they met at majestic spots on the Oregon coast to work in closer proximity.

That finds us in the night
I see its eyes
Reflected in the soft light
I see trouble
Everywhere i look for you
Hold my breath
Safe and sound
I'll keep them in the back for you
I see trouble
Every time i look for you
And maybe thats a lie
And i suppose i'm the crying type
With luck i will hide
Myself away
In you
Don't you think you've seen enough of that?
One by one we share a troubled heart
Don't you think you've seen enough of that?
One by one we share a troubled heart
Shake it up
Paint it on your lips
Nothing else
Could ever put a stop to this
I see trouble
Every time i look for you
And maybe thats a lie
And i suppose i'm the crying type
With luck i will hide
Myself away
In you
Don't you think you've seen enough of that?
One by one we share a troubled heart
Don't you think you've seen enough of that?
One by one we share a troubled heart
There and back again
Oh, you wanted more than what you got
There and back again
Oh, you wanted more than what you got
Ohh, and back again
Oh, you wanted more than what you got
One by one we share a troubled heart
(And maybe thats a lie)
(And i suppose i'm the crying type)
(With luck i will hide)
(Myself away)
(In you)
(And maybe thats a lie)
(And i suppose i'm the crying type)
(With luck i will hide)
(Myself away)
(In you)
The Lost Lander's song "Gemini" is an emotional and introspective track that delves into the complexities of relationships, particularly those that are troubled, by using the metaphor of an animal that watches over the singer in the night. The singer appears to be struggling in their quest to connect with someone, perhaps a lover or a friend, and finding it difficult to be vulnerable and share their emotions. They have a sense of foreboding and anticipate trouble each time they search for this person. The chorus reminds the listener that both the singer and the person they seek have had their share of heartbreaks and troubles.
The animal that is mentioned in the lyrics could be a manifestation of the singer's fears, anxieties, or instincts that keep them vigilant while they navigate their personal relationships. It could also represent the elusive nature of the person they seek, always out of reach and cautious to reveal their own vulnerabilities. The lyrics reveal the singer's personal struggles with expressing their emotions and the song has a melancholic tone that captures their feeling of insecurity and yearning for safety.
