Way Out
Lost and Found Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leave it all behind
We’ve been there for the fall
They warned us back in time
I feel the empire crumbling
Have another drink, it will be fine
We are all together for the end of the world
The easy streets are not these streets
Have a plan to hustle everyone you meet
We’ve got a lot to confront
Look at ourselves
Our names on bathroom walls
that we can’t even smell
I feel the empire crumbling
Have another drink, it will be fine
We are all together for the end of the world
We’re not about to run this time
I’ll move down the street for the rest of my life
Just give me a roof where I can howl at the night
You had thought
Oh, you had thought
That was your first mistake
The crime was under all our noses
You got too busy getting doses
And raging at the sky
Leave that behind, don’t say goodbye
There’s no way out
No way out
No way out
No way out
But through
There’s no way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
But through
There’s no way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
But through
There’s no way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
No way out (no way out)
But through
The lyrics to "Way Out" by Lost and Found are full of imagery and metaphors that paint a picture of a crumbling society and the struggle to survive in it. The song opens with the declaration that they are leaving tonight and leaving it all behind. The singer then mentions that they were warned back in time about what was to come, and now they feel the empire crumbling. However, instead of running away, they choose to face the end of the world together.
The lyrics then take on a more ominous tone, as the singer mentions the need to hustle everyone they meet and confront the reality of their situation. They urge themselves to look at themselves and the messages scrawled on bathroom walls that they can't even smell. The image of the "empire crumbling" continues to be a running theme, and the singer encourages themselves to have another drink and try to ignore it.
The chorus repeats the phrase "there's no way out but through" several times, driving home the idea that they can't run away from their problems. The song ends with a defiant cry to leave behind the distractions and face the reality of the situation head-on, promising to howl at the night for the rest of their life.

You had thought
You had assumed
Oh, you had thought
You made a miscalculation
That was your first mistake

The crime was under all our noses
The offense was in front of us all along
You got too busy getting doses

Forget the past and move on, without saying farewell
There’s no way out
There is no escape
But through
We must go through it
