The debut release on Krause's recently launched History of the Future label, "Premium Crack" is just one salvo from the international "breakcore" underground promoted by labels like Germany's Digital Hardcore, Scotland's Diskono, and California's Vinyl Communication. Breakcore takes pummeling, ultrafast gabber techno and dirgelike drum 'n' bass, throws the mixture into a blender, and spikes it with loud fuzz and distorted sound effects. The result is a product that in some sense defies description while inviting metaphor: Imagine it as a robot's bombastic soapbox speech delivered over a bad PA system in machine language. 2003 japan, take me there again. all i felt was warmth in a lost, hazy, yet beautiful world. i remember her. we ran through the city as if we were against the world. i remember the arcade sounds rushing through us or the blur of neon lights. feeling the cold blue adrenaline.

as we woke up in the soft afternoon, we gazed at the grey skyscrapers while the thin delicate sunlight was touching ours skins slightly. rain showered tokyo, blessing the city.

we hugged quietly and I promised to see her again someplace or sometime. i looked at her for a moment. her dyed-silver hair, skin soft as snow, eyes gorgeous as the ikebanas, sakura-coloured lips. she smiled sadly and walked towards the sea of people and disappeared. that was the last time i saw her. i don't know how she is now or if she's still alive. nevertheless.. she's forever breathing in my heart.

The film Lost in Translation is a masterpiece of the 'fish out of water' feeling of being hold up in an oasis within a totally different cultural dimension all around you, with different norms, expectations, and rules. Been there, done that, more than once. That surreal feeling Bill Murray has in the film is captured perfectly by Sofia Coppola. It is true, this is what you experience, that sense of detachment of being in a safe harbor, but being surrounded by dark, forbidding, unknown seas. In my case over a dozen different countries working in some eighteen years. The differing cultural aspects of societies are astonishing, never mind the language difference. I have always loved this song. It has such a beautiful melodic shifting tone reminiscent of the dreaminess experienced in the jet lag of an arrival. Kevin Shields must have come up with City Girl as a stroke of pure genius. Beautiful beautiful haunting song. In my head wherever I go in this world.

This movie was SO attracting to me. The setting is absolutely radiant as well.
One of my distant wishes is to just get lost in a country like Japan, where you absolutely can not communicate via the ways you are used to. It forces you to readapt to things you never thought you'll have to adapt to. You get sort of lost, but also vastly free. You feel careless, but in a good sense. With not a worry in your mind you set on to explore what this world has to offer, you feel uplifted as though something is carrying you and pulling you towards them and everyone just seems so... interesting, but distant. You realize this world has so much to offer. The constant thoughts of giving up suddenly all melt away. And for a split of a second, you feel... not happy per se, but full of hope. For the first time in your life you feel ready to tackle everything, come what may. You start living.
