The first of these albums, The Fake Sound of Progress, was originally recorded for the meager sum of £6000 and intended as a glorified demo, but after catching the ears of several major labels, the band re-recorded and re-released the album on a much wider scale through Columbia Records. This resulted in a backlash against the band that was exacerbated by the four-year gap between their first and second albums. When the second album, Start Something, was finally released, the band achieved even greater success, entering the UK album chart at number five, and earning the band international popularity, most notably in the United States. Their third album entitled Liberation Transmission was released on the 26th of June 2006 in the UK and entered the UK album chart at number one.
In April 2007 Lostprophets began the Final Transmission - the last round of touring of their current album with Aiden and Taking Back Sunday as the confirmed support. The bands played at huge venues such as Wembley Arena. The end the tour, on Saturday 26 May 2007, lostprophets performed at The Full Ponty festival at Pontypridd's Ynysangharad Park. Pontypridd is also the hometown of most of the current band members and so the festival was advertised as "lostprophets homecoming". Other bands at the festival included Reel Big Fish, The Automatic, The Blackout, Gallows and Kids In Glass Houses .Following the tour, the band hit the studio to record their fourth album which Ian Watkins is describing as a return to their roots with heavier punk influences. Watkins says "It will be a lot darker and a lot more intense. It'll have a completely different vibe to it ... but it won't be like Converge or nuthin".
Their 4th studio album "The Betrayed" was released on 19 January 2010.
On 20 December 2012, lead singer Ian Watkins was charged with a host of offences involving sexual activity with minors. The band disbanded in October 2013. Watkins was later convicted and sentenced to twenty-nine years in prison, with six more on extended licence.

When the rain wash away
All the hopes I can bring
To another day
Another day
When your trees start to sway
And the wind makes them move
I can tell that
You don't know
[Chorus]
To all the fights I've conquered and beyond
The times have changed and I will now move over slowly
The truth is I still feel lost without you
Hard to find a new soul
The silence takes its toll
Just sway
You don't know
Just sway
You don't know
Just sway
And all you want is to find home
There's a light pausing
Feel the volume of the sky
Mark your place in time with another question why
Time flickers in the night
Always lookin' to be right
[Chorus]
You don't know
Just sway
You don't know
Just sway
And all you want is to find home
Just sway
And you don't love
Just sway
And you don't know
Just sway
And all you want is to find home
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Just sway
Just sway
The song "Sway" by Lostprophets is a heartfelt expression of loss and confusion. The lyrics of the song depict a sense of hopelessness that comes with losing someone important in life. The opening lines of the song, "When the sun comes down, and the rain wash away, all the hopes I can bring to another day" describe the feeling of helplessness that comes with experiencing something beyond one's control. As the song progresses, the lead singer expresses how he feels lost and disconnected, unable to move on from the past or find a new sense of purpose.
The chorus of the song further emphasizes the sense of loss and confusion. The lines, "To all the fights I've conquered and beyond, the times have changed, and I will now move over slowly, the truth is, I still feel lost without you, hard to find a new soul, the silence takes its toll" describe the pain of letting go of the past and moving forward. The singer acknowledges the struggle of letting go of a relationship and finding a new direction in life. The repetition of the phrase "just sway" throughout the song seems to be a reminder to simply endure and survive the changes and uncertainty of life.
Overall, "Sway" is a poignant and emotional song that captures the feelings of loss and uncertainty that come with major life changes.

this comment section is beautiful. this is one of those bands that never went "too mainstream" to be constantly on the radio, but still gold enough for them to finance all the next albums. it's was like a best kept secret. and it meant so much to all of us. I'm pretty sure all of us have listened to this album back to back through a certain period of our lives. and it will forever bring back those memories, feelings and people. it's a shame what happened. but I'll cherish this album until the day i die. it's why I survived middle school. I'm sad I'll never see them live. but I am grateful for the music. after all, isn't that why we're all here, listening to this on repeat, still..?
