It's You
Lou Doillon Lyrics

Oh, it seems hard to believe
It's still you
Oh, it seems hard to believe
It's still you
I'm talkin' about yes, wherever I start
I end up with you
And I know for a fact, it's got little to do
With the stranger I see, it's just that I miss who I used to be

So I walk away and pretend (walk away, pretend, it's not you)
It's not you
That I'm runnin' from (runnin' from)
Just when I think that I'm free
I bump into you

And I wish I could change
'Cause it's all been said
I wish I could end this sick little game I play

So here I go (Here you go) it's with you
If I ever forget this one talk about you
It's just me and you, hand in hand
It's wherever I go
And it's with you
And if I ever forget, there's one to talk about you
And whatever they say, whatever you do
My love will remain exactly the same for you

Yes, right 'til the end
It's just me and you
Hand in hand
It's just me and you
And I know for a fact, it's got little to do
With the stranger I see, it's just that I miss who I used to be

Oh, it seems hard to believe
It's still you
I'm talkin' about yes, wherever I start
I end up with you
Yes, wherever I start
I end up with you

Yes, wherever I start
I end up with you

Overall Meaning

Lou Doillon's song "It's You" is a deep reflection on the phenomenon of feeling stuck in the past, and how it can affect one's present and future. The song begins with the repeated line "Oh, it seems hard to believe, it's still you," suggesting a sense of disbelief that despite the passage of time, the past remains as present as ever. The singer speaks candidly about her struggle to move on and her tendency to get caught up in memories of someone who is no longer in her life.

The lyrics capture the frustration of feeling like one is stuck in a cycle, unable to break free from the pull of the past. Throughout the song, the singer acknowledges that her attachment to the past has less to do with the person she used to know than with the version of herself that existed back then. She admits that she wishes she could change and move on, but finds herself repeatedly drawn back to the same patterns.

The chorus is a powerful reminder that no matter how much time may pass or how much one may change, certain things will always remain constant. The singer declares that wherever she goes, whoever she becomes, she will still be connected to this person and this past, because it's just "me and you, hand in hand."

Overall, "It's You" is a poignant exploration of the ways in which we are shaped by our past experiences and the challenges of finding a path forward when those experiences continue to reverberate in our lives.

@timwria

this is so special...this lovely song just had been to me dedicated from a person that i loved for so many years and the last years is not the same...it changed and i do not recognise her...sometimes,even if we love deeply a person ,that person makes us feel bad,unconfortable...i love her,i always love her but she changed a lot...so i love a picture of her that i have in my mind ...i will always love her but now that she becomes cruel, she becomes somene else, someone stranger to me...i miss u...i will always love that smile of yours, your touch...that sense of happiness that you always gave me...
