In 2008, 12-year-old Louane Emera took part in L'École des stars, a French music competition broadcast on channel Direct 8.
Louane Emera is an orphan. Her rendition of "Imagine" was dedicated to her father who had died just three months prior to her appearance in The Voice. Although a celebrity, she is still at school aiming to take her baccalauréat exams in 2015.
In 2013, her first real breakout came with her taking part in The Voice: la plus belle voix's second season. She auditioned with "Un homme heureux" from William Sheller with all four coaches Florent Pagny, Jenifer, Louis Bertignac and Garou turning their chairs. She opted to be part of Team Louis Bertignac. Her "blind audition" episode was broadcast on February 16, 2013.
March 23, 2013, during the Musical Battles round, she was picked by Bertignac against her rival Diana Espir, after both interpreted "Torn" from Natalie Imbruglia. During the live rounds, she sang "Les moulins de mon cœur" from Michel Legrand and was saved by public vote. On April 27, 2013 she performed "Call Me Maybe from Carly Rae Jepsen and was saved by her mentor coach to go through. With Lennon's "Imagine" dedicated to her deceased father, she was saved yet again by public vote. But her luck ended in the semi-finals after her rendition of "Quelqu'un m'a dit" from Carla Bruni. She brought a cumulative score of 74 while the other Team Bertignac semi-finalist Loïs brought in a composite score of 76. Accordingly Louane was eliminated finishing 5th to 8th.
All semi-finalists and finalists, including Louane, took part in an after-season tour throughout France.
After her appearance in The Voice, Éric Lartigau noticed her and cast her for his movie La Famille Bélier in which she played the role of Paula, a 16 years-old teenager who is the only hearing person in a family of deaf people. The character sings anumber of Michel Sardou songs, most notably "Je vole". As a result, she won the "Most Promising Actresses" at the 40th ceremony of the Césars.
On February 5, 2015, she will serve as an opening act for Jessie J's showcase in Paris.
Her first studio solo album, Chambre 12, was released on March 2, 2015, to great success. Her single Avenir topped the French charts in March.

On avançait dans les marais
Couverts de brume
J'avais mon fusil dans les mains
Un passereau prenait au loin
De l'altitude
Les chiens pressés marchaient devant
Dans les roseaux
Par dessus l'étang
Soudain j'ai vu
Passer les oies sauvages
Elles s'en allaient
Vers le midi
La Méditerranée
Un vol de perdreaux
Par dessus les champs
Montait dans les nuages
La forêt chantait
Le soleil brillait
Au bout des marécages
Avec mon fusil dans les mains
Au fond de moi je me sentais
Un peu coupable
Alors je suis parti tout seul
J'ai emmené mon épagneul
En promenade
Je regardais
Le bleu du ciel
Et j'étais bien
Et tous ces oiseaux
Qui étaient si bien
Là-haut dans les nuages
J'aurais bien aimé les accompagner
Au bout de leur voyage
Mais tous ces oiseaux
Qui étaient si bien
Là-haut dans les nuages
J'aurais bien aimé les accompagner
Au bout de leur voyage
Oui tous ces oiseaux
Qui étaient si bien
Là-haut dans les nuages
J'aurais bien aimer les accompagner
Au bout de leur voyage
Oui tous ces oiseaux
Qui étaient si bien
Là-haut dans les nuages
The lyrics of Louane's song "Le chasseur" depict a hunter's experience in the early morning as he navigates through marshes with his gun in hand. The setting is described as fog-covered, enhancing the mysterious and serene atmosphere. The hunter is accompanied by his eager dogs as they move through the reeds, setting the scene of a traditional hunting expedition in the tranquil wilderness.
Amidst the hunt, the hunter witnesses the beauty of nature unfolding before him. He observes a flock of wild geese flying towards the Mediterranean, symbolizing freedom and escape. The imagery of the geese heading southwards evokes a sense of longing and yearning for a different path, hinting at the hunter's inner conflict and desire for liberation from his current lifestyle.
As the hunter continues his solitary journey, he experiences a moment of introspection and guilt for his actions. This inner turmoil prompts him to step away from the hunting expedition and retreat into nature with his loyal dog by his side. The beauty of the surroundings, including the singing forest and radiant sun, brings him a sense of peace and contentment, highlighting the contrast between the peaceful coexistence of nature and the act of hunting.
The hunter's contemplation extends to the birds soaring high above in the clouds, wishing he could join them on their journey. This desire to break free and soar alongside the birds reflects a deeper longing for a different path in life, away from the confines of his hunting routine. The repetition of the longing to accompany the birds on their voyage underscores the hunter's yearning for a new beginning and a connection to the boundless freedom symbolized by the birds in flight.
Overall, "Le chasseur" portrays the complex emotions of a hunter torn between his traditional way of life and a deeper longing for liberation and connection with nature. The song emphasizes the beauty of the natural world and the profound impact it can have on one's inner journey and quest for meaning and freedom.
