Aftertaste
Loud Luxury Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, oh, ah-ha, ha
You don't know what you did to me, what you did to me
Sitting all alone I forgot, I forgot the way, that you'd say my name

Why'd you keep me close enough to love you?
When your heart stayed closed, not what you wanted?
Why'd you keep me close
Just to let me go?

Even though I kno-o-ow
That you're really go-o-one
Crazy that I won't give up on you
Should be moving o-o-on
But you're the one I wa-a-ant
Crazy that I won't give up on you

So I hold onto your
Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh
So I hold onto your
Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh
So I hold onto your

Kno-o-ow
That you're really go-o-one
Crazy that I won't give up on you
Should be moving o-o-on
But you're the one I wa-a-ant
Crazy that I won't give up on you

Lying in bed I can feel the space, pillows can't replace
Plans that we made let them go, let them go to waste, you're still haunting me

Why'd you keep me close, enough to love you?
When your heart stayed closed, not what you wanted?
Why'd you keep me close
Just to let me go?

Even though I kno-o-ow
That you're really go-o-one
Crazy that I won't give up on you
Should be moving o-o-on
But you're the one I wa-a-ant
Crazy that I won't give up on you

So I hold onto your
Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh
So I hold onto your
Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh

Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh
So I hold onto your
Aftertaste, a-aftertaste, a-aftertaste, oh
So I hold onto your

Kno-o-ow
That you're really go-o-one
Crazy that I won't give up on you
(So I hold onto your)
Should be moving o-o-on
But you're the one I wa-a-ant
Crazy that I won't give up on you

So I hold onto your

Even though I kno-o-ow
That you're really go-o-one
Crazy that I won't give up on you
(So I hold onto your)
Should be moving o-o-on
But you're the one I wa-a-ant
Crazy that I won't give up on you

So I hold onto your

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Aftertaste" by Loud Luxury speak of a failed relationship where one party is struggling to let go. The singer is haunted by the memory of their former lover and struggles to understand why they were kept close enough to love but ultimately let go. The chorus repeats the phrase "Aftertaste" which implies that the memory and feeling of the relationship linger long after it has ended, leaving a lasting impression that is difficult to shake.

The lines "Sitting all alone I forgot, I forgot the way, that you'd say my name/Lying in bed I can feel the space, pillows can't replace" depict the loneliness and emptiness that the singer feels without their former lover. The phrase "Aftertaste" refers to the lingering memory of their love, akin to the taste that remains in one's mouth after eating something.

This song is relatable to anyone who has struggled to let go of a past relationship or has been haunted by the memory of someone they can no longer have. The lyrics express the pain of loss and the difficulty in moving on even when one knows it is for the best.

Crazy to see their success...considering they performed for 15 bucks at my university 2 years ago and no one really knew who they were.

@royalmcwolf7254

McGill gang? lol or did they perform elsewhere as well?

@jonathanhampton5451

@@royalmcwolf7254 they performed at lots of colleges and university. It's nowhere near what they can do now but even compared to a bar that can fit a pretty decent crowd usually schools can get a good couple hundred anyway. Not sure if for $15 most places but not much more.
