Louis-Jean has never really stopped strummiing his guitar since his teens, he crossed on a skateboard, and especially the sound of his music. At that time, he already toured the bar circuit of his native Sept-Îles, Quebec and interpreting classical compositions.
It is at Cégep Saint-Laurent in 1998 that Louis-Jean comes into his own and forms a band with his firneds that is to become Karkwa. The quintet quickly took the path of competition and reveals its full potential during the finals CEGEP show in 1999, which allows them to be heard on some French scenes. The group offers a first break, but the road from Louis-Jean does not always stop and it joins some time training Kalembourg.
It was in 2001 that finally remade Karkwa surface during Francouvertes. They then demonstrate their amazing reach maturity and once more the grand finale Francouvertes. Over the years, musicians earn rewards and popularity with albums that are imposed on each of their publication: Le Pensionnat Des Établis (2003), Les tremblements s'immobilisent (2005), Le volume du vent (2008) and Les chemins de verre (2010), for which they won the prestigious Polaris Prize. Whether in London, Iceland, or Texas during the first part of Arcade Fire at the Place des Festivals in Montreal, Karkwa has always were a great opening act.
Signing singular group is probably echo the curious nature of the singer. "Mélomaniaque" at times and always eager to push back its own limits, Louis-Jean has planted his musical challenges of highly creative. By joining Patrick Watson among others for the series of shows Karwatson in 2008, Jean-Louis and his band prove that it is possible to cross the sound barrier and language.
Over the years, his reputation as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist of the above exception, which earned him the honor of accompanying famous artists as Chloé Sainte-Marie and Vincent Vallières. And at the invitation of the composer Gilles Bélanger, he agrees to take the realization of the first volume of the 12 men rapaillés Gaston Miron, musical and literary project of unprecedented scale. This collective project born great historic concert at the Francofolies (Felix Show of the Year - Interpreter at ADISQ 2010), a second disc (Felix Album of the Year - Contemporary Folk Gala of ADISQ 2011) as well as a tour of Quebec.
As with everything he does, his approach remains the same: to understand what surrounds it with sincerity and simplicity. So it is with that special touch that sign Albums Beluga and David Marin. It also co-produced the debut album from Marie-Pierre Arthur with François Lafontaine, his sidekick the first few hours, but his collaboration with Lisa Leblanc crystallize its status as a director.
Today is his own identity he tries to redefine. Supported by the author Daniel Beaumont, Louis-Jean sculpts poetry that will draw its power from its simplicity. And is surrounded by his new buddies, Adele Trottier-Rivard (vocals and percussion), Guillaume Chartres (bass), Simon Pedneault (guitar) and Marc-André Larocque (drums), he learns to unlearn and undertakes listening to his instinct to release the folks sounds and down-to-earth hide his reason.
This new project, especially forget the term "solo" and speak instead of a more personal adventure parallel plot a new voice.

Tu me souris
The lyrics to "Bull's eye" by Louis-Jean Cormier speak to the overwhelming feeling of love and attraction, and the inability to control or contain those emotions. The first few lines describe the singer's attempts to organize and manage their life, through placing a stopwatch around their neck or planning their schedule down to the minute. However, whenever they encounter the object of their affection, time seems to stop and they are lost in the moment. The singer is so consumed by their feelings that they can't even keep track of the time or the weather.
The chorus emphasizes the intense impact that this person has on the singer. The repeated line "Chaque fois qu'on se croise" ("Every time we cross paths") emphasizes the frequency of their encounters and the power that they hold over the singer. The following lines, "Je sais plus quelle heure il est" ("I don't know what time it is anymore") and "Je sais plus quel temps il fait" ("I don't know what the weather is like anymore"), further emphasize the singer's disorientation and loss of control.
In the second verse, the singer describes how even nature seems to be affected by their encounters. They can't predict the weather or even control it, as storms and hurricanes seem to be brewing whenever they're around. Despite this chaos, the singer is drawn to this person and the way they make them feel.
The bridge of the song is a beautiful moment of stillness within the chaos. When the singer and their love interest lock eyes, time seems to stop and everything else fades away. The beauty of this moment is heightened by the repetition of "Sur le même trottoir" ("On the same sidewalk") which emphasizes the small and simple context in which this connection is occurring.
The final verse brings a sense of humor and playfulness to the song. The singer acknowledges their awkwardness and attempts at flirtation, through "préparer des lignes qui font rire" ("preparing lines that make you laugh") and "des yeux qui visent le bull's eye de ton coeur" ("eyes that aim for the bull's eye of your heart"). These lines are both endearing and relatable, emphasizing the human struggle to express ourselves when we are overwhelmed by emotion.

J'ai beau me mettre un pendule au collet
Despite trying everything, such as wearing a clock around my neck,
J'ai beau revoir mon horaire au complet
Even reviewing my entire schedule,
En fixant le cadran
Staring at the clock,
Des alarmes clouées au tympans
With alarms ringing in my ears,
Chaque fois qu'on se croise
Every time we cross paths,
Je sais plus quelle heure il est
I no longer know what time it is.
Even following the temperature down to the thousandth degree,
J'ai beau prévoir l'orage ultra-violet
Even predicting the ultraviolet storm,
La pluie de grêlon
The hailstorm,
Appeler l'ouragan par son prénom
Calling the hurricane by name,
Je sais plus quel temps il fait
I no longer know what the weather is like.
À chaque fois qu'on se croise
Every time we cross paths,
Le temps s'arrête
Time stops,
Le soleil reprend vie
The sun comes back to life,
Sur le même trottoir
On the same sidewalk,
Tu tournes la tête
You turn your head,
L'image au ralenti
The image in slow motion,
Sans matin, sans soir
Without morning or night,
Et sans tempête
And without storm,
Je fige
I freeze,
Tu me souris
You smile at me,
Et comme dans toutes les histoires
And like in all stories,
On se perd dans la masse
We get lost in the crowd,
En sens contraire
Going in opposite directions,
The same punch in the same face,
Entre la maladresse et le désir
Between clumsiness and desire,
J'ai beau me préparer des lignes qui font rire
Even preparing lines that make you laugh,
Des mots tombeurs
Seductive words,
Eyes aiming for the bull's eye of your heart,
Chaque fois qu'on se croise
Every time we cross paths,
Je peux mourir
I could die,
Je sais pas comment te le dire.
I don't know how to tell you.
