It's Christmas night in Harlem
(Jack) Well it's Christmas night in Harlem

The song “Christmas Night in Harlem” by Louis Armstrong with Benny Carter and His Orchestra begins with a spoken conversation between two men, Jack and Johnny. Jack is overexcited, and Johnny asks what’s going on. Jack responds with “Hallelujah! Glory Halle...”, but Johnny tells him to calm down. Johnny then notices Mr. Teagarden in the corner and asks him what he’s doing there since the last time he saw him was when he was leaving Harlem. Jack responds by saying that he’s back for good. Johnny informs Jack that it's Christmas time in Harlem, which Jack counters and says that it's Christmas everywhere. The two of them then go back and forth with Jack agreeing to Johnny's point about Christmas being exceptional in Harlem.
The song continues with Johnny and Jack describing how the streets are covered in snow, and everyone is feeling good in that old colored neighborhood. They sing about how everyone will be up until after three, and everyone will be all lit up like a Christmas tree. They invite every coal black Joe to lead them to the mistletoe with a kiss and hi-de-ho. The conversation then shifts back to spoken words, with Johnny asking Jack about what Santa Claus left in his stocking. Jack tells him what he received, including an orange and a jar of “????.” Johnny then notices Jack's slide trombone and tells him to tune it as it might not sound pretty. The song ends with Jack and Johnny expressing their happiness of being back in this festivity, and that it’s Christmas night in Harlem.

Louis Armstrong is my biggest inspiration. I am a beginner composer and i've been inspired a lot to make music because of Louis, every time I hear his music it makes me want to make my own music. I'm still just starting though one of the songs inspired by him i posted on my channel and i would love feedback if anyone reading this has the time
