Né à Oran, le 23 février 1954, il passe son enfance à Paris. Il étudie la guitare très tôt, mais n'y trouve pas son compte. Bon élève, il rencontre Corine Marienneau et Richard Kolinka, au début des années 70 et Jean-Louis Aubert, un peu plus tard. La suite, le monde entier la connaît: le groupe Téléphone et sa carrière époustouflante. Louis travaille avec Higelin et au sein des Shakin'Street, groupe qu'il forme avec Corine et Eric Levy, juste avant Téléphone. A la mort du groupe en 1986, Louis et Corine partent ensemble vers de nouvelles aventures. Ainsi naît Louis Bertignac et les Visiteurs, le premier album connaît un vif succès, avec notamment le titre Ces idées-là. Louis tend plus vers une carrière solo, qu'il concrétise avec Elle et Louis, son premier album, en 93. Après une tournée et la rencontre avec Etienne Roda-Gil, 96, un nouvel opus, sort, suivi lui aussi, d'une tournée. En 98, un double live, regroupant ses meilleurs titres sur scène, paraît. En 2002, Louis Bertignac collabore avec Carla Bruni sur son 1er album Quelqu'un m'a dit. 3 ans plus tard, il signe l'album Longtemps. Aujourd'hui, il continue les tournées avec son power trio accompagné par Cyril Denis à la basse et Hervé Koster à la batterie...
