Ma memoire sale
Louis Garrel Lyrics

Alors,
Tue la... encore.
Pleure!
Lave!
The lyrics of Ma mémoire sale, which translates to "My dirty memory," by Louis Garrel, are about the singer's desire to rid themselves of their painful memories. The opening line, "Lave, ma mémoire sale dans ce fleuve de boue," which means "Wash my dirty memory in this river of mud," sets the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is looking for someone to help them cleanse their mind of things that are holding them back. They ask their lover to "cleanse me everywhere with the tip of your tongue," suggesting that they seek intimacy as a means of forgetting their pain.
However, the singer is not content with just forgetting - they want their memories to be gone completely. They implore their lover to "hunt [the memory] down in [them]," and even to "kill it" once it is found. They express frustration with their own inability to let go of their memories, crying, "I've tried, I've tried, but I have a dry heart and swollen eyes." The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer saying that they can burn everything away, including the bed they share with their lover, as long as they have the comfort of their partner's body.
