Louise Dearman has collaborated with a renowned team once again to produce her third studio album. Appropriately titled, ‘It’s Time’, the album is collection of Dearman’s favourite musical numbers and includes a duet with X Factor star turned West End name, Shayne Ward.
Featuring classic songs from The Wiz, Les Miserables, Sunset Boulevard, Funny Girl, Once, The Wizard of Oz, Chorus Line, Little Women, Jekyll and Hyde and Tell Me On a Sunday, the album perfectly brings together traditional and modern pieces from some of the world’s most successful musical theatre productions.
Currently starring as the lead, Elphaba, in the London production of Wicked (in fact Dearman is the only performer across the globe to have played both lead roles in the show), Louise is excited to move on to new adventures after she defies gravity for the last time on November 16th.
As well as the album and a book release in the pipeline, Louise has a busy festive period ahead, performing across the country in a number of concerts. The highlight of these will be her turn as guest host for Friday Night is Music Night (FNIMN) on the 20th December. Recorded by BBC Radio 2, FNIMN is the world's longest-running orchestral live music programme on radio.
Louise Dearman is a seasoned performer and having performed in some of the most well known musicals, her song selection is key. The track 'Falling Slowly' (taken from the musical Once) features Shayne Ward in his return to the world of musical theatre following his starring role as Stacee Jaxx in the West End's Rock of Ages The Musical. Duetting with Louise on the track highlights Shayne's soaring vocals which helped to see him crowned winner of X Factor in 2005 and highlights the blend of old and new that Louise was keen to achieve with this album. Louise says of the album:
“Working on this album has been a whole new experience for me. For years I shied away from singing or recording iconic musical theatre songs and tried to find less known material, but this year felt like the right time to embrace all those truly wonderful classics and put them together with some beautiful orchestrations on my new album. It's really taken me back to my roots and I'm very, very proud of the end product.”
‘It’s Time’ is set for release on November 18th and will be available from all major online retailers.

But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You'll make it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along
The lyrics of Louise Dearman's song "Falling Slowly" is a beautiful ode to the feelings of love and hope. The opening lines "I don't know you, But I want you, All the more for that" is a powerful statement that signifies the instant sense of attraction that one person can feel for another without really knowing them. The next lines, "Words fall through me, And always fool me, And I can't react" expresses the inability to articulate these feelings accurately or respond to them correctly.
The song's central theme revolves around the trials and tribulations of love and the challenges of overcoming them. The singer acknowledges that the games that the lovers play are meaningless and will eventually run their course, leading to heartbreak, and that it is better to focus on the bigger prize - love itself. The lines, "Take this sinking boat and point it home, We've still got time, Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice, You'll make it now," is a reaffirmation of hope and the fact that love is worth fighting for, no matter the obstacles. The repeated phrase of "Falling slowly" shows the gradual progression of the relationship, and the chorus's final lines encourage the other person to "sing their melody" and "sing along," indicating the power of togetherness and shared experience.
Overall, "Falling Slowly" is a beautiful song that resonates with anyone who has ever experienced the highs and lows of love, and the importance of hope and perseverance in any relationship.
