The End
Love/Hate Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You never thought that you'd live so long
That'll teach you
To think you know what's going on

How many tears did you cry?
When they caught you screaming
On the last page of you life
Are you afraid of the boundaries?
Is there something
On the other side?

Fire and brimstone
Silver cloud
Does my face look familiar
In a crowd?

I am the Devil in disguise
I want to take you
A message

Here comes, here comes
The end

Armageddon's coming to be with me tonight
The end is my friend when I go through the tunnel
All good things go faster
It's time to meet the master

I am the Devil in disguise
I want to take you
A message

Here comes, here comes
The end
Here comes, here comes
The end

In your wildest dreams
Did you ever think
You could master
Eternity?

On the darkest hour
Did you miss

The kiss of disaster?
You sold your soul

All good things go faster
The watchman cried

Here comes, here comes
The end

Here comes, here comes
The end

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Love/Hate's song The End are haunting and contemplative. The song appears to be about mortality and the inevitability of death. The opening lines, "You never thought that you'd live so long, That'll teach you to think you know what's going on," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer seems to be addressing someone who has lived a long life and is perhaps feeling like they have all the answers, when in fact, they are just as clueless as everyone else.

The lyrics then go on to ask, "How many tears did you cry, When they caught you screaming on the last page of your life?" This line seems to suggest that even those who have lived long lives still have fears and uncertainties about death. The next lines ask if the person is afraid of the boundaries and if there is something on the other side. This is a common theme in discussions of death, as no one knows for sure what lies beyond.

The chorus repeats the line "Here comes the end" and the singer declares themselves to be the Devil in disguise. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for death, as many religions and cultures view death as being linked to the Devil or some other malevolent force. The final lines of the song suggest that the person being addressed has sold their soul and that all good things go faster.

Overall, Love/Hate's The End is a thought-provoking and somewhat ominous song about the inevitability of death.

Season 4 was a cop out but 5 was a fantastic conclusion.for me 3 and 5 ar the strongest with 2 following closely up.

@Sigmamale1289

@Optimal Pivvy ye I agree 3 and 5 are brilliant

@andygray1762

Despite King Nidge claiming he ‘doesn’t give a fuck about anyone’ it’s evident how much Darren meant to him and how much he didn’t want him to die… Darren was, however, responsible for the petrol bombing of Dano’s car and finishing off Git, so Nidge was right to sacrifice him. That being said it absolutely broke his heart to sacrifice him and it is the only time in the entire show that we see Nidge’s soft side and him bawling over his fallen comrade, and the best possible man to have on your side in any walk of life.
