Their biggest hit was 1973's instrumental single "Love's Theme". The track, written by Barry White, went to number 1 for one week in the US and number 10 in the UK. The RIAA awarded a gold disc in February 1974. The hit was included on the orchestra's debut album Rhapsody in White issued in 1974. Two follow-up albums Together Brothers and White Gold were released later that year. White Gold featured the single "Satin Soul" which peaked at number 22 on the Billboard pop charts in early 1975. In 1976, Kenny Gorelick, later known as Kenny G, joined the orchestra as a saxophonist. The orchestra continued to record albums for 20th Century Records until the end of the 1970s. By 1981, they had moved to White's own label Unlimited Gold. Their final album Rise was issued in 1983.

I miss my baby's arms
His tender finger tips
Knows just how to keep me warm
It may be zero degrees
With the snow falling down
But I've got warm and tender love
[Chorus]
It may be winter outside
But in my heart it's spring
How much joy and pleasure, baby
Can one guy bring me
Winter nights can be awful cold
Without someone to hold
But when I have him next to me
Baby, I'm in ecstasy
[Chorus]
Throughout my life
I've had my share of guys
But he's been the only one
Who can make my temperature rise
Things are just not the same
When he's not by my side
But yet, I shouldn't complain
But be waiting with my arms open wide
[Chorus: x3]
Love Unlimited's song "It May Be Winter Outside" is a poignant love song that speaks to the warmth and comfort of being held in the arms of a loved one during the cold winter months. The opening lines of the song describe the singer's longing for her partner's embrace and how his affectionate touch can keep her warm. The first verse also establishes the contrast between the freezing temperatures outside and the warmth of her lover's love, which allows her to feel like it's spring in her heart.
In the chorus, the singer celebrates the joy and pleasure that her partner brings her, even in the darkest days of winter. She acknowledges that without him, the winter nights can be "awful cold" and lonely. But when he's with her, she feels like she's in ecstasy, and it's impossible for her to be unhappy.
The second verse explores the singer's past experiences with other men and how they pale in comparison to the passion and desire that her current partner ignites in her. She describes how things feel incomplete and different when he's not by her side, and how no one else can make her temperature rise like he can.
Overall, this song is a beautiful and touching tribute to the power of love to provide warmth and comfort even in the coldest and darkest of days.

Didn't really appreciate how good this was when it first got released but it's just such a joyous track. Brings tears to my eyes now at the age of 65. Oh to be able to go back to those fantastic times.
