Overall Meaning

The first few lines of Love of Lesbian's song Nada set the scene of someone looking out of a window and observing the elderly residents of a building opposite. They are dancing when the singer hears one of the people mention waiting for darkness to arrive and wondering if they will be able to see the light that comes in the end. The idea of the end is further explored when they ask what will happen if the curtain never rises and everything remains dark. The singer concludes that there would be no point in arriving at a hotel with locked doors, with no welcome or anything at all, and they wonder if they will be able to warn the person of what's to come. When one of the elderly residents responds with advice to simply resign oneself to the cycles of loneliness, the singer realizes that all the observations they had made previously were ultimately meaningless.


The scene then changes to a window that leads to the outside world, which has been closed for weeks before the singer and the other person finally meet by chance. When the singer asks if the other person is feeling any better, they exhale deeply and recount how darkness had entered once he had left them. The singer laments how even opening windows, curtains, or even blankets can lead to nothingness, represented in the image of a king that forbids screaming. When the other person falls silent after they say "nothing," the singer reflects on the notion of forever turning into almost nothingness and how they had missed the opportunity to meet them again. Instead, they realize that they had mistaken the elderly pair for relatives, only to later discover their story in the news about how they had stolen millions. The song ends on a note of uncertainty, as the singer wonders where the elderly couple might be now.
