Battle Of Evermore
Lovemongers Lyrics

The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom and walked the night alone
Oh, dance in the dark night, sing to the morning light
The darkest night, a force tonight, and time will tell us all
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, rest not till you're going home
Side by side we walk the might, the darkest of them all
I hear the horses thunder down in the valley below
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow
The apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness
The ground is rich from tender care, which they do not forget, no, no
Dance in the dark night, sing to the morning light
The apples turn to brown and black, the tyrant's face is red
Oh, sing if you can't cry, pick up your soul and fly
The sky is filled with good and bad, and mortals never know
Oh well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow
Our eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow
The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath
The drums will shake the castle wall, the Ringwraiths ride in black (ride on)
War is the common cry, pick up your swords and fly
No comfort here, the violent night, that night face so cold
Oh dance in the dark of night, sing to the mornin' light
The the hay, the light, the face of night to bring the balance back, bring it back
At last the sun is shining, the clouds of blue roll by
With flames from the dragon of darkness, the sunlight blinds his eyes
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Oh now, oh now, oh now, oh, oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back
Oh now, oh now, oh now, oh, oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
The lyrics to Lovemongers' song "Battle of Evermore" seem to depict a battle or war between light and dark forces. The Queen of Light takes her bow and then turns to go, while the Prince of Peace embraces the gloom and walks the night alone. The song urges people to dance and sing during the darkest night, and to not rest until they are going home. It speaks of walking side by side through the darkest of times, waiting for the angels of Avalon and the eastern glow.
The lyrics also mention the pain of war and the aftermath, with drums shaking castle walls and Ringwraiths riding in black. There is a call to pick up swords and fly, despite the violent night and cold faces. However, the song ultimately brings a message of balance and hope, urging listeners to bring back the light and the balance that has been lost, with the sun finally shining and the clouds of blue rolling by.
Overall, the lyrics to "Battle of Evermore" seem to speak to the struggle between light and dark, hope and despair, and the importance of finding balance and harmony in the world. It encourages people to keep fighting and singing through the darkest of times, knowing that the sun will eventually shine again.

"The Battle Of Evermore" - LYRICS:
The Queen of Light took her bow,
And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom,
And walked the night alone.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight,
And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow.
The apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The apples turn to brown and black,
The tyrant's face is red.
Oh war is the common cry,
Pick up your swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know.
Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ring wraiths ride in black, ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back.
Bring it back.
At last the sun is shining,
The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness,
The sunlight blinds his eyes.

Props to the original, I love Led Zep, no one like them. BUT: I've seen Heart in concert many times, and no one can even attempt LZ the way they do. Most LZ songs are very difficult guitar combined with somewhat discordant melody, extensive length and, frankly, the cojones to do it justice. Heart has that in spades.

Love this version of this song! It beats anything else.

I really like their version of the Battle of Evermore. I saw them do this live in Louisville last year and uploaded that version. Spine tingling for sure. For some reason it was flagged for copyright violation and blocked in the US.

I had a brother (Tommy), and when HEART became FAMOUS, he told me that he would go to The Aquarius Tavern, and watch HEART. And the piece that was THE HIGHLIGHT of their set was THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE! So, when I found it on The Lovemongers CD, I bought it!! IT IS PHENOMENAL!!!

They played with Alice in Chains. I think they played Brother w/ Alice in Chains encore The night was a Red Cross fund raiser for the First Gulf War. After the conflict was over. The Lovemongers are Ann and Nancy with Sue Ennis, Ben Smith and Frank Cox. Sue Ennis was a long time collaborator with Heart. This show was downtown at the Moore theater. A few month later at the Gorge at George the Lovemongers played with Queensrique at a Light Hawk fund raiser for helping to stop clear cutting logging. In-addition, during the Clinton-Gore years Heart and Neil young performed during the Kyoto Protocol era.
