On December 4, 2006, they recorded the "Bedroom Recordings" in their mobile home studio, flitting between London and the North of England. Drummer Fuzz Townshend collaborated with them on the record. MTV used a number of their songs, including "Closer" in the hit TV series The Hills.[1]
At the beginning of 2007, they toured in the United States, playing residencies in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. A local Nashville website wrote, "Lovers Electric deliver 80s influenced alternative dance pop."[2]
After touring the United States, they toured Europe from May-July 2007 as support for re-formed 80s band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) playing to sold-out venues.
Within a week of this tour finishing they began recording in Sheffield UK with producer Eliot Kennedy and finished their debut album "Whatever You Want". They signed with Sony in 2008 and released their debut album that August.
I'm In Love
Lovers Electric Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My head is everywhere
But everything is new
Taking on the world
But everything is new
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
Like it's the first time
I'm not in control.
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
What do we say now?
I've got no idea
Changing what I know
Learning to be more
Now everything is new
Close to what I am
And further from who I was
Now everything is new
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
Like it's the first time
I'm not in control.
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
What do we say now?
I've got no idea
The opening lines of Lovers Electric's song "I'm in Love" describe a state of being overwhelmed and uncertain in the face of change. The singer feels as though they are "running through the air" and their "head is everywhere," suggesting a lack of direction or focus. Despite this feeling of disorientation, however, everything feels new and fresh. The singer is "taking on the world" and "breathing in the old," suggesting a willingness to embrace new experiences while still retaining some sense of the past.
The chorus of "I'm in Love" speaks to the powerful, intoxicating nature of falling in love. The singer declares that they are "in love, like it's the first time," and that they are "not in control." This sense of being swept away by intense emotion is reflected in the song's instrumentation, with its driving beat and soaring vocal melodies. The second verse of the song continues this theme of transformation and growth, as the singer reflects on the ways in which they are "changing what I know" and "learning to be more."
Overall, "I'm in Love" is a song about the exhilaration and uncertainty of falling in love, of being swept away by intense emotion and experiencing a sense of profound transformation. The lyrics suggest a willingness to embrace change and a sense of wonder at the aspects of life that remain constant, even as everything else is in flux.
