Biography
Formed in 1995 in Austin TX, Lower Class Brats set out to create music unlike anything else in their city. A mixture of Punk, Oi!, 70s Glam and straight ahead rock and roll merged with the theatric imagery of A Clockwork Orange. After six months of writing and rehearsals the band began to perform and released a demo cassette. A year later the band's first full length “Rather Be Hated Than Ignored” was released on GMM records and became the soundtrack for a fanbase now known as the “LCB Army”.
The recorded history of five full-length LPs, thirteen 7” EPs and three different compilation LPs under their belts. Provides testament to the band's reputation that they are a group that works as hard as they play. All while performing worldwide across the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Asia.
LCB members- Bones (vox), Marty Volume (guitar), Ron Conflict (bass), Zed (guitar) and Nick Brat (drums) continue to record and perform after a 20+ year history. Taking great care that every live show is more than "just another gig" and a night for those in attendance to cut loose, forget their daily woes and sing, scream and shout along.
Rather Be Hated
Lower Class Brats Lyrics

We all know chicks dig scars
I've done my time with broken bottles
And been kicked outta my share of bars
We've been ridiculed and criticized
For doin things our own way
But we won't back down we'll stand strong
So get the fuck outta my way
'cause we live and we die by the
L.C.B. Army
We live and we die for the
L.C.B. Army
People talk shit for no reason at all
But what the fuck do they know?
You don't like me you don't like my band
Get the fuck away from our shows
We got our army they've got the spirit
As they crowd around the dance floor
The army knows as well as we do
We'd rather be hated than ignored
In "Rather Be Hated", Lower Class Brats sing about their desire to stand strong and be true to themselves, even in the face of ridicule and criticism. The first verse suggests that although the pain they have experienced may have been temporary, the glory they have gained from their experiences will remain with them forever. The line "We all know chicks dig scars" implies that their scars and experiences make them more appealing to certain people. The second verse speaks directly to those who critique and ridicule them, telling them to get out of their way and that they will not change their ways.
Throughout the song, Lower Class Brats emphasize the loyalty and unity of their fans, whom they refer to as the L.C.B. Army. They speak to the idea that their fans will follow them no matter what and that they will stand strong together. The chorus repeats the phrase "We live and we die for the L.C.B. Army," reinforcing the message that they are a collective who exist to support each other.
One of the most powerful lines in the song is "We'd rather be hated than ignored." This speaks to the idea that it is better to be noticed, even if that means experiencing hate and criticism, than it is to be completely ignored and forgotten. Lower Class Brats prioritize being true to themselves and being noticed for who they are over conforming to societal expectations and being ignored.
