Biography
Formed in 1995 in Austin TX, Lower Class Brats set out to create music unlike anything else in their city. A mixture of Punk, Oi!, 70s Glam and straight ahead rock and roll merged with the theatric imagery of A Clockwork Orange. After six months of writing and rehearsals the band began to perform and released a demo cassette. A year later the band's first full length “Rather Be Hated Than Ignored” was released on GMM records and became the soundtrack for a fanbase now known as the “LCB Army”.
The recorded history of five full-length LPs, thirteen 7” EPs and three different compilation LPs under their belts. Provides testament to the band's reputation that they are a group that works as hard as they play. All while performing worldwide across the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Asia.
LCB members- Bones (vox), Marty Volume (guitar), Ron Conflict (bass), Zed (guitar) and Nick Brat (drums) continue to record and perform after a 20+ year history. Taking great care that every live show is more than "just another gig" and a night for those in attendance to cut loose, forget their daily woes and sing, scream and shout along.
Who Controls The Media?
Lower Class Brats Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everything you said, it was wrong,
You can't even look us in the eyes,
While your headlines scream out pompous lies.
Who controls the media?
I want my say, say, say, say, say, say!
The upper-middle class just can't relate,
I really don't have much in my life,
But you can never take away my pride.
Punk is big, now you sing a different song,
Why can't you just admit you're wrong,
But streetpunk you still ignore,
You're just as bad as the bands you implore
.
The lyrics of Lower Class Brats's song "Who Controls The Media?" are a scathing critique of the media's tendency to manipulate the truth and perpetuate falsehoods. The song begins by addressing the powerful figures who have been holding down the lower classes for far too long. The lyrics are a direct challenge to authoritative forces that have been so prevalent in society in recent years. The singer is accusing them of being wrong and manipulative, and urges them to look down and face the reality of their actions. He then questions who controls the media, highlighting the power dynamic that is at play here. He demands that he be given the chance to express his own voice and give his opinion on the way things are run.
