Their name is often said to derive from a Nordic word briefly translated as "of hidden worth", however the band have admitted during interview that it is just a word that Darren Ford made up
The band is comprised of vocalist Darren Ford, guitarist Dan Symons and bassist Miles Willey. Formed in 1998 in St. Albans, England, they signed with Nude Records, a financially-strapped recording company. They released the now highly revered Just Backward of Square in 2001 to mixed reactions from the British music press. After the collapse of Nude Records they resigned to Sanctuary Records releasing the critically acclaimed Welcome To Winners in October 2003. The band now run their own independent label Dedtedrecords which saw the release of a double CD Lowgold retrospective collection called Keep Music Miserable in October 2005.

Lowgold release new album 'Promise Lands' on 31st March 2008 and will briefly tour around its release.

Low Gold: You started following YouTubers

Mid Gold: You learn true combos

High Gold: You learn spamming sigs is an actual viable tactic

Low Plat: You learn to play passive to defeat better players than yourself

Mid Plat: Your mental just got a boost and start experimenting with extended light attacks

High Plat: You re learn spamming is supremely viable and combine it with playing passive

Low Diamond: You are stuck and scared because your cheesing doesn't work anymore and therefore you devolved into a punching bag, you also refuse to use the diamond border because you are fully aware that golds and plats can still 3 stock you on a daily basis

Anything past low diamond is unexplored ground for me so i have no more facts to spit

Nice vid. Only thing ya missed is the huge role your internet connection plays in rank. I played over 200hrs on a poor connection, rubberbanding all over the place, sometimes like a slideshow, and was stuck in low silver. Moved to an apartment with better internet and immediately went gold. I still rubberband and it still costs me games. I figure a lot of people in low-income cities and rural areas are stuck in low ranks simply because of their internet connection.

This is honestly pretty accurate. But the only thing that I disagree with is the mid to high rank gold. Gold right now is in a place that you described high platinum with. There are a lot of amazing players and then the occasional gold that you described. I have been playing the game for many, many hours. Maybe a little too much. But I'm still stuck in gold because I reach that point where there is someone who is meant in high Plat. I've fought many different kinds of players and its always a win, lose, win, lose type of situation. So yeah gold is kinda dumb right now haha.

high gold and low plat players play and sometimes put amazing strings. But it is more coincidence than reading the opponent. If you find their weak point they simply die. Thats why some cool dudes and spammers are in the same elo. They can put great strings but weak about reading the opponent and setting a good footwork. When you start to play with giving much more attention about your and enemies movements, you begin to improve. It is same thing that when watching pros play, they put same combos that seems like casual match. Thats why because they are in same skill level. But when you play against one you understand how beast they are, like they know which spot you gonna dodge.

The diamond ranks vary depending on region, I myself am roughly a 2100 aus player but it is hard to climb elo in aus due to the lack of ranked players in the region at that level. 2100 this doesn’t apply as much (because I still suck)

I’m in gold III and it’s true that I know some true combos and stuff. But I have some terrible habits and I’m trying to get rid of them (such as always dodging inwards or being too aggressive and easily punishable). Hopefully I can snap out of it and get somewhere this season.

Also blasters are the most fun weapon for me. And no one can convince me otherwise.

Wait really? It took me only around 18 hours to get to Gold when I first started out, and I play the game maybe a few couple times in a week. Granted, I did have a few friends who were Low Plat who helped me learn the game though.

I have a friend who bounces between silver and bronze pretty consistently. Everyone else in the friend group is high gold or low plat except for him, but he has more hours on the game than the rest of us and more ranked games played. He averaged about 300-400 games per season in ranked alone. I don't even know what he's doing wrong at this point lmao

@Magic X Football not all of them are from the same area as me, I meet a lot of guys online in communities or even just after games. Messaging people GG or asking them to join a party and spar or play 2's for a bit is a great way to find cool people who enjoy the game. Reddit also has a brawlhalla sub where you could make a post asking if anyone wants to play with you.

I'm high gold and surprisingly you got both statements wrong, I have nothing against lance and learning a couple true combos is quite an understatement too.
I have learned every weapon to an extent so I can almost play pretty much anything with just the signature game being quite weak on characters I'm not that familiar with.

I just hit 200 hours in brawl, I'm high silver occasionally going up to rly low gold, but idk why im stuck, I know a few decent combos, I can punish like half the time they miss an attack and although jm not the fastest player I can dodge and move out the way quite well, my recoveries are decent unless they're edge guarding i always die then, idk what im doing wrong rly

My biggest frustration is when I about to go to the next rank, but then I lose the next 5 games in a row.
I just reached the low gold, and then I lost the next 10 games, I never felt so disappointed by myself.

Also, the problem is that even if I’m in Gold, I feel like I’m fighting Diamond players, and yes, I HATE LANCE PLAYERS!!!

I hit low plat recently, I didn’t have hundreds of hours because on switch I was stuck in silver with 270 hours and thought controller was limiting me, sooo I got the game on pc played for 30 hours and got gold, and it only took about 100 hours of grinding to get plat after did anybody else get it that fast cuz my friends are still mid gold

The fact that high plat fits me 20x better than low plat tells me I should probably pull out the sweaty mental tactics of staying untilted. I must say me being tilted is highly noticable so lucky for me it's easy to know when to stop for a bit.
