There are few reason this is not happening, and it shouldn't

1. Hero design: she is a tactical/strat oriented dps, like sym, torb, bastion. They require lesser mechanical skill and aim, but thrive in good game sense, decisioning and creativity. It's healthy for ow to have that type of dps

2.Mei's tankiness is there for sure, but her kit is dps even more so. Her ice shots have delay and need to be aimed well, tank cannot make good use of it. Her wall is not insta cast and is not good for frontlining, unless it's like sigma type of tank it would be odd. But mei is usually played in rush comps.
Ice block is great for survival but completely loses aggro. tank that loses aggro midfight is a terrible tank

3. Mei has been played as an S tier organized comp hero since forever. Owl loves to use it, contenders too. Every time you wanna synergize your team, mei is a good option. Rein especially benefits from mei in team. If mei becomes tank, that synergy is gone.

Doom was easier to change to tank bcs he was just given block instead of uppercut. His play style remained similar. Plus he was always a very undividualistic pick. That's the opposite of mei, who would need full rework to become a tank. It's just better to create another hero in that case

Hot Take is the game will never even be close to balanced until 6v6 (2-2-2) returns.

Originally the case was ppl didn't like double shield.
- Could've been easily solved it we had devs balance the meta at the time (which we didn't, they were all on OW2)
The second case is that they say the game became too complex
- 5v5 didn't make the game too complex, it made it MORE complex. Having certain abilities now have to work differently on tank like sleep dart, and certain roles have passives, but some passives are useful but now mercy has a buffed passive, and Hanzo has no passive. It all over complicates the game and makes it even more unbalanced and harder to attempt to balance in the future.

Also role passives should be removed. Atm devs are trying to nerf cooldowns so these high value abilities can't be spammed, but the problem is in OW1 these abilities were lower value because their was a second tank to soak it up. An example is before support passive Ana anti-nade was balanced, because she had to decide is it better to use offensively and help my team, or do I need to use it on myself to survive? It wasn't something to be spammed. The same goes for other heroes abilities too. Another is Zarya, do I use my self bubble to keep myself alive or do I use it to gain charge? It wasn't a time where you had 2 bubbles you could just cycle to get free charge and still have one left over for bad game sense.

5v5 ultimately lowered the amount of skill and increased the amount of bad plays you could get away with. It also makes DPS useless in comparison to the other 2, even though supports benefit the most, it also makes tank boring to play (forced to decide to protect the team, or go in with your dps to help them get kills).

Bit of a long tangent but I haven't ever found any negative to going back to 6v6 other than support mains complaining that it'll be harder then actually getting better at the game.
(I flex all roles and have played in Silver-Master lobbies since 2017, so I believe I have a good understanding at how the game is for all ranks, during all METAs across all roles and heroes)

The biggest issues with Cowboy are 90% to do with the man being a Mid/Close range character with 0 outs who is massive as fuck

Every other character who is "supposed" to play at that range has a lot more survivability

Symm has Barrier Health, Torb is Armored and has bonus armor on demand that doubles as mobility, Mei is 250 HP with Wall AND Ice, Reaper has Wraith, Lifesteal and Step, Genji has a much thinner build, deflect, and double jump with dash mobility and still needs some babysitting.

Cowboy just has this super linear mobility, massive frame, and no real strong points to compensate the weaknesses.

Roll is silly right now sure, but i wouldmt call it good. Its like a handful of steps below DVas remech doing damage, it lets you do funny things and it can help on occasion but its not especially practical.

Cowboy is like- more vulnerable then Zenyatta but less idealized as a target.

The whole reason they made armor is to make it quicker to heal. Otherwise, just give them a 30% bigger health pool. Armor was created to heal faster, not to reduce dmg.

no its functionally not the same even if you only have 1 armor point you still get the damage reduction, there are some abilities affected by armor like reaper passive, it affects ult charge given when you heal or damage. Also it used to be way more complicated in ow1 so it wasn't designed to heal faster

@@rando9827 it literally was designed to heal faster. Look it up from OW1. They might not keep it for that reason but that's why it was incorporated originally.

i believe it’s intended to be both?

both perspectives are super valid. in ow1 it was based on a different philosophy (low damage worse against armor) but with flat rate against all damage i believe it’s simply meant to heal fast

Overtime spawn delays need to be reworked on Escort/Hybrid maps; the game is better without mechanics that can enable the attacking team to snowball the majority of a map. Spawn delays still make sense on last point to prevent Defense from endlessly trickling on to point to stall, but it's not necessary at all for first and second points.

i guess i can kind of see what you mean for hybrid from first into second, but if a team has been held at second point up until overtime, then that's not really a snowball, is it? or first point escort.

Love how aggressive matchmaker is now, that makes the game so much better. It never feels like you're getting rolled by just one guy anymore. You still get rolled sometimes, but it feels like the team balance was just bad (or you have too many guys on your team that don't understand they can't 1v5 in Overwatch). OW1 for many years there'd be a Hanzo killing everyone or a Widow that didn't miss a headshot and it was undeniably clear they were smurfing and it happened ALL THE TIME.

I probably played 20 matches yesterday and only 2 felt really good and close. The others it was clear that the teams were not ever close to balanced
