É lero lero, olho no olho
E nada mais
Esse é do mesmo time
Não tem pressa e nem atraso
Tudo é em paz
Quando penso, o outro sabe
Nem fala não
E quando a vida aperta
É lero lero, olho no olho
E me volta a paz
Quero dizer: Valeu irmão
Quero dizer: Valeu irmão
E nada mais
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
E nada mais
Quem vem ali, agora
É lero lero, olho no olho
E nada mais
Esse é do mesmo time
Não tem pressa e nem atraso
Tudo é em paz
Parece o mesmo sangue
Quando penso, o outro sabe
Nem fala não
E quando a vida aperta
É lero lero, olho no olho
E me volta a paz
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
E nada mais
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
E nada mais
Quem vem ali, agora
É lero lero, olho no olho
E nada mais
Esse é do mesmo time
Não tem pressa e nem atraso
Tudo é em paz
Parece o mesmo sangue
Quando penso, o outro sabe
Nem fala não
E quando a vida aperta
É lero lero, olho no olho
E me volta a paz
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
E nada mais
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
Quero dizer: valeu irmão
E nada mais
The lyrics to Luísa Maita's song Lero-Lero describe the strong bond and effortless communication between two people who are "do mesmo time" (from the same team). The singer notes that when these two are together, there is a sense of calm and peace ("Tudo é em paz"). They communicate without words, understanding each other's thoughts and feelings even when they don't speak ("Quando penso, o outro sabe / Nem fala não"). When the stresses of life become overwhelming, their connection brings the singer back to a place of peace ("E quando a vida aperta / É lero lero, olho no olho / E me volta a paz"). The repeated refrain of "Quero dizer: valeu irmão / E nada mais" reinforces the message that this connection is valuable and meaningful in and of itself, without needing any further explanation or justification.
At its core, Lero-Lero is a celebration of the power of human connection and the ability of certain individuals to understand and support each other without needing to articulate everything in words. The use of the phrase "lero lero" (which can roughly be translated as "talk talk" or "chitchat") is intriguing, as it implies that the connection between these individuals is not necessarily based on chatter or small talk but on a deeper level of understanding. The repetition of the verses and chorus creates a sense of endurance and long-lasting connection.

Eu sou inglês e essa música tem habitado meu corpo, alma e mente. Simplesmente deslumbrante.
Arguing With Stupid People
I was fortunate to see Luisa and her band live and up close at a tiny venue. Haunting and sultry, she does not disappoint. I still get chills listening to this.

Grande Luisa.

This album is so delicious. The instrumentation is raw and a fantastic take on traditional Brazilian sound while being boldly contemporary. She is so sensuously unselfconscious. Natural is the best way to put that. Sultry and lyrical, she captures the spirit of Bossa Nova and Salsa and makes it brand new. I would give anything to see her with these musicians. Reminds me a little of hearing Gato Barbieri the first time 45 years ago. He still sounds fresh too.
