Born and r… Read Full Bio ↴Luísa Gerloff Sonza is a Brazilian singer and songwriter.
Born and raised in Tuparendi, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, she is the daughter of farmer Cezar Luiz Sonza and Physical Education teacher Eliane Gerloff. In February 2016, she attended a semester of law at the Franciscan University, giving up her university studies to invest in her artistic career.
She started her career singing at song festivals and at the age of seven she was hired by the band Sol Maior, performing until she was seventeen years old. In 2014, Sonza created her own YouTube channel where she started to publish cover versions of several songs, which made her gain visibility on the internet, being called "Queen of Covers". In May 2017, she signed with Universal Music label and released her debut authorial single "Good Vibes". In October of the same year she released her debut self-titled EP.
In June 2019, Luísa released her debut studio album Pandora, which was preceded by the singles "Pior Que Possa Imaginar", "Fazendo Assim", featuring Brazilian singer Gaab, and "Garupa", featuring Brazilian singer and drag queen Pabllo Vittar.
During 2020, she released the singles "Braba" and "Toma", with the participation of Brazilian singer Zaac, in addition to participating in songs by other artists such as Dilsinho, Vitão, Lexa, Danna Paola, Xamã, among others. In December, she released "Modo Turbo", featuring Pabllo Vittar and Anitta, used as the lead single from her second studio album, Doce 22 (2021).
In July 2021, after a month away from social media, she announced her second album, Doce 22, which was released on July 18, the date on which she turned 23.

Luísa Sonza's "INTERlude" is a powerful reflection on the painful journey of finding love, and how the search for it often leads to heartbreak. She begins by explaining that it is unacceptable to spend our entire lives searching for something that will ultimately betray us. However, Luísa recognizes that it is not love that causes the pain, but rather people who do not understand how to show love. These people force us to become small, to let go of who we are and break apart at the seams, just to fit into a mold that we don't even belong to. The pressure to conform to the expectations of others is suffocating, and oftentimes the search for love forces us to abandon ourselves, our pieces, and our identities in order to fit in.
The second part of the song focuses on the paradox of seeking love despite the pain it causes. Luísa acknowledges the deep desire we have to find the love of our dreams, so much so that we're willing to sacrifice pieces of ourselves just to be with someone. We convince ourselves that the pain is all worth it because we believe that the love of our dreams will eventually blossom. But even with this conviction, we still feel unloved and unfulfilled. Luísa's message is clear: we need to learn how to love ourselves first and foremost, and stop trying to fit into molds that are not meant for us.
Overall, "INTERlude" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that speaks to the vulnerability and pain that can accompany the search for love. Luísa's soaring vocals and poignant lyrics make this song a true standout on her album.
