The Other Side
Lucas Marx Lyrics

and they drive me crazy
Followed them blind and they left me hazy,
oh it couldn't be easy
We've been floating down the river for what seems to be a lifetime
but it only ends in goodbye
Just like design, I let go - you crave me
I believe that I can see the light inside you starting to die
It isn't like we could'a kept running away
I believe that I can see the light inside you starting to die
It isn't like we could'a kept running away
But I'll be there waiting for you on the other side
Uh hm, the other side
Waiting for you on the other side
I can never find the words, to say I need to be alone
But I still need you closer than a distant memory
You said you'd never let it go, forever I was yours to hold
But I couldn't let you get the better of me
We've been floating down the river for what seems to be a lifetime
but it only ends in goodbye
Just like design, but I let go - you crave me
and you can't stop shaking
I believe that I can see the light inside you starting to die
It isn't like we could'a kept running away
I believe that I can see the light inside you starting to die
It isn't like we could'a kept running away
But I'll be there waiting for you on the other side
Uh hm, the other side
Waiting for you on the other side
You've seen me at my worst, gave me something that I didn't deserve
And now I want to get away
And now I want to get away
The lyrics of Lucas Marx's song "The Other Side" is a powerful representation of a relationship that has gone awry. The first verse talks about the aftermath of a breakup - the signs that the other person left behind drive the singer crazy. He followed them, but they left him feeling hazy and confused. The second verse talks about how they have been floating down the river for what seems like a lifetime, but it only ends in goodbye. He acknowledges that he let go of their relationship, while she craves him and can't stop shaking. In the chorus, he says that he sees the light inside her starting to die, and they can't keep running away.
The lyrics are poignant and raw, expressing the pain of a relationship that has ended. The singer is struggling to find the words to express his feelings and is torn between needing to be alone and needing the other person closer than a distant memory. He is hurt by what she gave him, and now he wants to get away. The song ends with the singer waiting for his ex-partner on the other side, acknowledging that he still loves her despite everything.
