1) Lucero is an American country-punk rock band that is based in Memphis, Tennessee. Since 2001, they have played between 150 and 200 shows a year across the United States and Canada. They have released eight full-length albums, the latest entitled Women & Work.
The members of Lucero are Roy Berry (drums), John C. Stubblefield (bass), Brian Venable (guitar), and Ben Nichols (guitar and vocals), and occasionally Rick Steff (piano, organ, accordion). Todd Gill substituted for Brian Venable from 2003 to 2004. The band also experimented with guitarist Steve Selvidge in the early months of 2003. Ben Nichols' previous band was Red 40 in which he played alongside Colin Brooks and Steve Kooms.
In late 2008 the band announced they had signed a four album deal with Universal Music Group. Their album, 1372 Overton Park, was released October 6, 2009.

One shot's sweeter but both can hurt
Just let it go, kid just let it go
Feels alright for being so wrong
Don't look back cause it wont last long
Just let it go, kid just let it go
It'll hurt in the morning but you still need 'em both
A honkey tonk and a jack knife
A tomahawk and an ex wife
Come on kid let's drink 'em down
Kid dont let it get you down
I'm playing too fast, thinking too slow
Women and work and the kid don't you know
Just let it go, kid just let it go
Now come on in get out of the cold
The women and the work
Got you froze to the bone
A honkey tonk and a jack knife
A tomahawk and an ex wife
Come on kid let's drink 'em down
Kid dont let it get you down
Now the women and the work and the booze in between
Got you puking in the aisles, smashing tvs
Kid don't let it get you down
It's one shot of women, one shot of work
Don't try to sip 'em cause it only they only taste worst
Just let it go, kid just let it go
Raise up your glass, let's make a toast
You can't win 'em all but you still need 'em both
A honkey tonk, jack knife
Tomahawk, ex wife
A honkey tonk and a jack knife
A tomahawk and an ex wife
Come on kid let's drink 'em down
Come on kid let's drink 'em down
Kid don't let it get you down
The song "Women & Work" by Lucero is a gritty portrayal of the ups and downs of life. The song delves into the idea that life is a balancing act between the pleasures and pains of women, work, and booze. The song talks about how one can't have one without the other, and that life is nothing but a constant cycle of chasing one's pleasures and avoiding one's pains.
Throughout the song, the singer encourages the listener to let go and live life to the fullest, despite the pain that comes with it. The lyrics suggest that life is meant to be a bumpy ride, and that it's up to the listener to make the most of it. The chorus is particularly poignant – it suggests that life is a mixed bag of good and bad, and that the listener should raise their glass and make a toast despite the inevitable pain that comes with it.
Overall, the song is a powerful representation of the rough and tumble nature of life, and how one can find solace in the pleasure and pain of it all.
