Lucky Ali and his father Mahmood shared a tempestuous relationship. Mehmood was a very busy actor in 1960s and 70s, and remained away from home for his shoots. Once, around the age of five when Lucky's mother came with him to receive Mehmood at the airport, Lucky didn't recognize his father and on seeing him said, "He's the film comedian Mehmood!" Lucky Ali lived away from his family in a boarding school up in the foothills of the Himalayas in Mussoorie. Lucky's tryst with marijuana led Mehmood to write the script of the movie Dushman Duniya Ka (Enemy of the World).[3] The movie stars Ali's youngest brother,Manzoor. It is the story of the drug abuse of a young man called Lucky. In the end the young man kills his mother, destroys everything around him and is then killed by his father. Lucky Ali differed with his father's vision and did not act in the movie. "I felt the story lacked hope," he said.[3] However he sang his first song for the film.
Lucky Ali wanderlust has taken him many places. He has bred horses, been an oil rigger off the coast of Pondicherry in South India, is a farmer with a strong opinion on organic methods in farming. Music, singing and acting are his serious hobbies.
Personal Albums
His first composition was a three-chord lament called 'Nobody Loves Me'. Lucky Ali was gifted a guitar at age 13 and he taught himself to play it. Lucky became passionate about music but soon moved to horses, then to acting, and direction, further on to roughnecking on the rig Gettysburg now Badrinath owned by Great Offshore Limited, to washing carpets but finally returned to music.
Lucky Ali made his debut on the Indian pop scene with the soulful album Sunoh which established him as a pop singer. This album won many of the top awards in Indian music, including the Best Pop Male Vocalist at the 1996 Screen Awards and the Channel V Viewers Choice Award in 1997. It stayed on the MTV Asia Charts for 60 weeks. The song O Sanam from Sunoh, launched his career and is considered by some to be one of the best indi-pop songs ever.[1] His next album, Sifar, wasn't quite as successful as Sunoh, but it was noted for its music, lyrics and vocals.
Lucky Ali is known for his distinctive music style and also for his husky voice. His third album and fourth albums were Aks and Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai, both of which were reasonably successful. After a five years hiatus, he released his new album Xsuie on the 19th of September 2009, on his birthday.

The video was directed by Mani Shankar, and features him as a young urban man roaming the Indian countryside, trying to discover new meaning to life. When asked about the video, he once said "The video of 'Anjaani Raahon Mein' was a beautiful story in itself. It was done straight from the heart and it is very special to me."
His latest album is Xsuie, which he released on internet as he didnt want to just make money. Thus he decided not to go with any label and just to release his music as an independent artist.
He also sung his first kannada song for a Kannada film 'Udyan Express'. He also song the anthem song of Formula 1 race(2011) that held in India along with K.K,Daler Mehndi.

O Sanam
Lucky Ali Lyrics

Aake dil ko mere yu tadpati hain
O Sanam Mohabbat ki kasam,
Milke bichad na to dastoor ho gaya
Yadoon mein teri main majboor hogaya
O Sanam teri yadoon ki kasam
Jaana hai ab kya hai dil ka lagana
Nazroon se na yu humko girana
Mar bhi gaye toh bhul na jaana.
Ankhon mein bassee ho
Par door ho kaheen
Dil ke kareeb ho
Yeh mujhko hai yakeen
O Sanam tere pyar ki kasam.
The song O Sanam by Lucky Ali is a beautiful love song that portrays the feeling of longing and nostalgia for a past relationship. The opening lines "Shaam Sawere teri yaadein aati hain, Aake dil ko mere yu tadpati hain" express how the memories of the past relationship haunt the person day and night, making their heart ache with pain. The next line "O Sanam Mohabbat ki kasam" signifies how the love between the two was true and genuine.
The next part of the song depicts the pain of separation, "Milke bichad na to dastoor ho gaya, Yadoon mein teri main majboor hogaya, O Sanam teri yadoon ki kasam". The lyrics are about how separation from the person you love can become the norm and the memories of the past become an addiction that you can't seem to shake off. The line "O Sanam teri yadoon ki kasam" is a promise to oneself to hold on to the memories and the love shared with the other person.
The last few lines of the song "Nazroon se na yu humko girana, Mar bhi gaye toh bhul na jaana, Ankhon mein bassee ho, Par door ho kaheen, Dil ke kareeb ho, Yeh mujhko hai yakeen, O Sanam tere pyar ki kasam" express how the person wants to hold on to their love despite the adversities and how they believe that the person they love is still close to them, even though they are far away.

Shaam Sawere teri yaadein aati hain
I keep remembering you all day and night
Aake dil ko mere yu tadpati hain
Your memory tortures my heart whenever it comes to me
O Sanam Mohabbat ki kasam,
Oh my beloved, I swear on our love
Milke bichad na to dastoor ho gaya
Our separation after meeting each other has become a tradition now
Yadoon mein teri main majboor hogaya
I have become helpless in your memories
O Sanam teri yadoon ki kasam
My love, I swear on your memories
Samjhe zamaana ke dil he khilona
The world thinks that the heart is a toy
Jaana hai ab kya hai dil ka lagana
I wonder what's the point of giving my heart now
Nazroon se na yu humko girana
Don't try to bring me down with your eyes
Mar bhi gaye toh bhul na jaana.
Even if I die, don't forget me
Ankhon mein bassee ho
You reside in my eyes
Par door ho kaheen
But you are far away somewhere
Dil ke kareeb ho
But your presence is still close to my heart
Yeh mujhko hai yakeen
I am sure of this
O Sanam tere pyar ki kasam.
Oh my love, I swear on your love

Days where , there was no smartphone ,
No internet ,
Just 9xm , Mtv ,
And requesting our favourite songs through message ,
Waiting to go to school the next day , playing cricket , football , in the evening before going to tuitions, and watching cartoons in the evening .
90's kids can relate very well to this .
Nostalgia hitting hard.
Thank you for such beautiful music .
