Gravity
Lucy Schwartz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I feel ten feet tall
And I know why
It's everywhere
It's in your eyes
The secret that we can defy
Ooh/ La dada dada da
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da
You helped me grow
Now you gotta let me go
Cuz I have learned to fly on my own
And it's gonna be
Pulling on my heart and soul
But I can't go back now that I know
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da
Falling upwards
Catch me if you can
One step forwards
Here we go again
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da/ can't bring me down
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da/ can't bring me down
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da/ can't bring me down
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da/ can't bring me down
When I walk I touch the sky
In Lucy Schwartz's song Gravity, the singer seems to experience a feeling of empowerment and liberation as she walks, seemingly defying the laws of gravity. She feels ten feet tall and acknowledges that she knows why. This feeling is not just within her, but it's also visible in the people around her - most notably in her eyes. She describes it as a secret that they can defy - implying that it is a shared feeling but not everyone is aware of it. The chorus repeats the word 'gravity' multiple times, as if to emphasize the weight of this secret.
The song seems to be addressing someone who has helped the singer grow and learn but now needs to let her go. She's learned how to fly on her own and acknowledges that gravity will pull her heart and soul back, but now that she knows how to fly, she can't go back. Falling upwards seems to be a paradoxical expression on how the singer moves forward and takes risks despite the overwhelming pressure to fall back. The chorus repeats itself again, emphasizing how gravity is no longer a limit for her and it cannot bring her down.
Overall, the song's lyrics seem to be about personal growth and how it can sometimes come at the expense of leaving certain people or things behind. It also shares a message of empowerment and resilience when facing internal and external pressures.

Coolest Geek Ever
I first heard this song after hearing it on the season/series finale of a tv show called Gravity. I dont kno if she made the song for the show or if it was a coincidence that the song seemed to fit the show perfectly. Anyway, It was such a good song that 3 years later I had to look it up! :) And I'm very glad I did. This is a great song! You just made a new fan... 3 years after first hearing the song.
