It’s crazy to think that Beethoven was writing master piece after master piece. Even if we look at Op. 50 - Op. 60 we have the Waldstein Sonata Op. 53, Eroica Symphony Op. 55, Appassionata Sonata Op. 57 and the 4th Piano Concerto Op. 58. How Beethoven managed to write such great music over and over again consistently throughout his life is a wonder to the world of art.

@Jeffrey Kaufmann Wagner? You can't be serious! I know all music is subjective but Wagner was an hateful man, antihumanism at it's best. But surely you don't believe that. I've listened and can't seem to find your justification.

We thinks we likes Beethoven

I am quite sure the tunes were circulating in his head and he already heard most parts of the pieces. Then he improvised the missing gabs, crafted it together and wrote it down

And hes not able to listen to his music. Quite sad

@Chopin is a composer for one right hand.Wagner said Never compare a composer with another composer. Each is a genius in his work. Both Mozart and Beethoven and Bach and Wagner and all the other composers are great, but their work is not related.

Absolutely delicious!!

The "job" of the second movement is supposed to be to erase the tragic undertones of the first movement - and it doesn't really do that; nor does it prepare the listener for the even more tragic undertones of the third movement (compare Rossini's "Siege of Corinth" overture, which does a totally awesome job of glossing over the victory of the Turks over the Greeks - even though essentially all all of Europe was on the side of the Greeks).
