Ludwig van Beethoven - ( The Westminster Choir ) Lyrics

Sondern laรt uns angenehmere
anstimmen und freudenvollere.
Freude! Freude!
Freude, schรถner Gรถtterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Deine Zauber binden wieder
Was die Mode streng geteilt;
Alle Menschen werden Brรผder,
Wo dein sanfter Flรผgel weilt.
Wem der groรe Wurf gelungen,
Eines Freundes Freund zu sein;
Wer ein holdes Weib errungen,
Mische seinen Jubel ein!
Ja, wer auch nur eine Seele
Sein nennt auf dem Erdenrund!
Und wer's nie gekonnt, der stehle
Weinend sich aus diesem Bund!
Freude trinken alle Wesen
An den Brรผsten der Natur;
Alle Guten, alle Bรถsen
Folgen ihrer Rosenspur.
Kรผsse gab sie uns und Reben,
Einen Freund, geprรผft im Tod;
Wollust ward dem Wurm gegeben,
Und der Cherub steht vor Gott.
Froh, wie seine Sonnen fliegen
Durch des Himmels prรคcht'gen Plan,
Laufet, Brรผder, eure Bahn,
Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen.
Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
Diesen Kuร der ganzen Welt!
Brรผder, รผberm Sternenzelt
Muร ein lieber Vater wohnen.
Ihr stรผrzt nieder, Millionen?
Ahnest du den Schรถpfer, Welt?
Such' ihn รผberm Sternenzelt!
รber Sternen muร er wohnen.
Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
Diesen Kuร der ganzen Welt!
Brรผder, รผberm Sternenzelt
Muร ein lieber Vater wohnen.
Seid umschlungen,
Diesen Kuร der ganzen Welt!
Freude, schรถner Gรถtterfunken
Tochter aus Elysium,
Freude, schรถner Gรถtterfunken, Gรถtterfunken
"Ode to Joy" is a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785, and Ludwig van Beethoven composed his Ninth Symphony with this poem as a base. The Westminster Choir's version of this song is a choral production that does justice to the power of the words. The first few lines call for the end of sadness, pain, and mourning, as they ask for more pleasant and joyful music. The second verse is a tribute to joy, the beauty of divine inspiration that uplifts people from the earth and into the heavens. The songs celebrate the reuniting of all men as one, and how love binds everyone to share in the same joy.
The third verse is a call to all to join in celebration, to rejoice together with one another in love, whether it is caused by romantic affection or friendship. The author, Schiller, calls first and foremost for all people to come together in the joy, regardless of the divides scattered across society. The last verse is a call to the people united under one banner to remain in that joy, to embrace it and to spread it far and wide. The author impresses upon everyone the immensity and power of joy and its ability to bring people together in unity.

@@scottiestarcher409 Meesterwerk in Dutch. That's the (West) Germanic connection.
EN: Indescribably beautiful... it is a masterwork.
NL: Onbeschrijfelijk mooi... het is een meesterwerk.
Some other European reference languages I know
Also, describe; scribe comes from (de)scribere, which is Latin for "to write". Unbeschreiblich, onbeschrijfelijk and obeskrivtlig you can see the "(be)schreib", "(be)schrijf" and "(be)skrivt", which all have the same etymology tracing back to the same Latin word scribere as well; which was adopted by proto-Germanic (scribana). In English "shrive" still exists. "To write" is a purely Germanic word that can be traced back to proto-Indo-European; an alternate form also exists in many other Germanic languages (though often with a slightly or entirely different meaning).

That was deep.

He wrote a song he never got to hear himself.
But the audience made sure he knew the true beauty of it.
