Pequeña Serenata Diurna
Luis Eduardo Aute Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Cual solamente puede ser libre
En esta tierra, en este instante
Y soy feliz porque soy gigante
Amo a una mujer clara
Que amo y me ama
Sin pedir nada
Que no es lo mismo
Pero es igual
Y si esto fuera poco
Tengo mis cantos
Que poco a poco
Muelo y rehago
Habitando el tiempo
Como le cuadra
A un hombre despierto
Soy feliz
Soy un hombre feliz
Y quiero que me perdonen
Por este día
Los muertos de mi felicidad
Y si esto fuera poco
Tengo mis cantos
Que poco a poco
Muelo y rehago
Habitando el tiempo
Como le cuadra
A un hombre despierto
Soy feliz
Soy un hombre feliz
Y quiero que me perdonen
Por este día
Los muertos de mi felicidad
The lyrics to "Pequeña serenata diurna" by Luis Eduardo Aute/Silvio Rodríguez express a sense of happiness and freedom of the singer. He notes that he lives in a country that is only truly free in this moment and location, but he feels like a giant because of this freedom. He shares that he loves a woman who loves him back without asking for much in return. He notes that it's not quite the same thing, but it's still love.
The singer then mentions his songs, which he grinds and rebuilds slowly over time. He describes himself as a man awake to the times he is living in. He then repeats the chorus, stating that he is a happy man and asking for forgiveness from the dead for his happiness.
Overall, the song seems to be a celebration of being alive in a certain place and time, and finding joy in that. The singer also notes the importance of love and creative endeavors in his happiness.

Chico Buarque, Silvio Rodríguez y Violeta Parra.
@andresblotta
