Luis Mariano became famous in France in the 50s with the light opera "La Belle de Cadix". His fame grew even more with "Le chanteur de Mexico" and "Violettes Imperiales", light operas on stage which became films. He enjoyed then a huge popularity and fans went even totally crazy about him.
He sang with Bourvil and Annie Cordy.
Luis Mariano had a unique voice and a unique style.
Luis Mariano died in 1970, totally used up after numbers of roadshows and tours, in the most dreadful financial situation, forgotten by all.
He was known to be an extremely cheerful person, enjoying life to the full, over generous with his friends and loving.
Chanter

De m'être arrêté en chemin,
Mais au studio, mes toutes belles
Je viens de répéter
C'est une mélodie nouvelle
Que personne encore ne connaît,
Si vous aimez sa ritournelle
Je vous la chanterai
Chanter, chanter, chanter pour vous
Voilà ma vie
Chanter "Je t'aime, un peu, beaucoup
À la folie"
Il n'est plus rien au monde
De mieux qu'une chanson
Pour que brunes et blondes
Se donnent aux garçons
Chanter, chanter à pleine voix,
Voilà ma joie
C'est une loi dans la nature,
Les oiseaux chantent dans les bois
Le vent léger sur la ramure
Et la pluie sous les toits
La vague chante sur la rive
Et le coq depuis le matin,
Pour que sur Terre tout revive,
Fait lever le soleil
Chanter, chanter, chanter pour vous
Voilà ma vie
Chanter "Je t'aime, un peu, beaucoup
À la folie"
Il n'est plus rien au monde
De mieux qu'une chanson
Pour que brunes et blondes
Se donnent aux garçons
Chanter, chanter à pleine voix,
Voilà ma joie
(Chanter, chanter à pleine voix)
Voilà ma joie
The lyrics of Luis Mariano's song "Chanter, chanter" are about the joy of singing and its universal appeal. The first verse apologizes for the singer's delay, as he has just finished rehearsing a new melody that nobody knows yet. The lyrics then express the singer's passion for singing and his belief that there is nothing better in the world than a song to make men and women fall in love. The second verse emphasizes the natural tendency of living things to sing, from birds in the woods to the waves on the shore. The chorus repeats that singing is the singer's life and joy, and that he will sing with all his heart for his audience.
