Celebrity Skin
Lukas Rossi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh make me over.
I'm all I want to be.
A walking study.
So much to die.

Yeah, so glad you could make it
Yeah, now you really made it
Yeah, So glad you could make it now.

When I wake up in my makeup.
Its too early for this dress.
Beautiful darling, hooker/waitress.
They arent sluts like you.
Beautiful garbage, beautiful dresses.
Will you stand there?
Or will you just fall down?
You better watch out what you wish for.
It better be worth it.
So much to die for.

Yeah, so glad you could make it
Yeah, now you really made it
Yeah, So glad you could make it now.

When I wake up.
Can you taste it?
I can feel everything she did.
All I want is hooker/waitress.
Can you stand up?
Or will you just fall down?
You better watch out.

Well I ain't selling cheap.
Well I ain't selling cheap.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lukas Rossi's Celebrity Skin evoke a deep sense of longing and unfulfilled desires as the singer yearns for a total transformation. The opening line, "Oh make me over," speaks to a craving to reinvent oneself entirely, to shed the old skin and transform into something entirely new. The subsequent lyrics, "I'm all I want to be, a walking study, so much to die," hint at a dissatisfaction with the current state of being and a desire to become something new, something more.

As the song progresses, we see the singer grappling with the realities of their new appearance, struggling to reconcile it with their old life. The line, "When I wake up in my makeup, it's too early for this dress," speaks to a sense of discomfort and unease with the trappings of their new image. The lyric, "Beautiful garbage, beautiful dresses, will you stand there or will you just fall down?" suggests that there is a sense of precariousness to their newfound fame, that it could all come crashing down at any moment.

The song's chorus, "Yeah, so glad you could make it, yeah, now you really made it, yeah, so glad you could make it now," underscores the sense of triumph and validation that comes with achieving celebrity status. This chorus is repeated throughout the song, serving as a constant reminder of the singer's newfound success.

Overall, Celebrity Skin is a powerful commentary on the cost of fame and the desire for transformation. Through vivid imagery and evocative lyrics, Lukas Rossi captures the sense of longing and insecurity that often accompanies the pursuit of stardom.

AoshiShinomori

He's got a really interesting voice, but, goddamn... has he even HEARD Celebrity Skin before?

Tina P

lukas has talent...but he's got a long way to go. Dilana's the best choice hands down. She brings it every week. Magni is awesome too, but Dilana fits the best, hands down.

Michael Johns

I liked it!

AmericanGuy85

Well they didn't get to always choose they're songs. They pulled it out of a hat so to speak. So it was an awkward song for a guy to sing really. But he still won the whole thing and became Supernova's singer.

Not a queen--a khaleesi

he wasn't comfortable with the lyrics. he might've just gone blank. but he's still my favorite.

Michael Johns

1:40 on is brilliant!
