Sital-Singh was brought up in the small south west London town of New Malden, birthplace of folk legend John Martyn. The youngest of 3 brothers, Luke’s parents encouraged their sons to pick up musical instruments. Piano, saxophone, guitar and the flute were all part of the Sital-Singh ensemble with Luke taking up the violin at age 11. After picking up his brothers guitar, he has never looked back.
The ever compelling and emotionally captivating young songwriter has his roots in an eclectic mix of songsmiths both young and old, from Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Joni Mitchell to Damien Rice, Josh Ritter and Tallest Man On Earth. Though a new artist and relatively unexposed, he has already established himself within BBC’s Introducing arena, gaining him a slot at Glastonbury 2010.
Luke released his debut album, The Fire Inside, in August 2014. http://lukesitalsingh.com/
Nearly Morning

So try again
You never know
You've cried
You'll cry again
You bare your soul
You're not the only one who seems alone
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
It hurts
It really hurts
It's in your blood
To give
Yourself away
For nothing much
When no one understands you're breaking ground
You're not the only one who can't be found
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
Any second now
Any second now
Any second now
Any second now
Any second now
As sure as the night will cover your eyes
As sure as the voices telling you lies
Counting the days that never arrive
Any second now
As sure as the stones that slow you feet down
As sure as the circles turning you round
As sure as the piece that never got found
Any second now
All of the time you thought you got close
How hard it is to love those old ghosts
You get the least but you give up the most
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
Any second now
We know the feeling
Just believe me
It's nearly morning
The lyrics of Luke Sital-Singh's "Nearly Morning" are a testament to hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. The song is about someone who feels alone and lost, who has tried and cried but still feels like they are not understood. The lyrics emphasize that this feeling of isolation is not unique – others have felt it too. The song urges the listener to keep going, to try again, and to have faith that things will get better. The repeated refrain of "We know the feeling, just believe me, it's nearly morning, any second now" reinforces this message of hope.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of struggle and pain. The lyrics describe the physical and emotional toll that this struggle can take – "It hurts, it really hurts, it's in your blood". However, there is also a sense of resilience and determination. The repeated phrase "any second now" suggests that a breakthrough or a change is just around the corner. The song acknowledges that progress can be slow and that there are setbacks along the way, but it encourages the listener to keep pushing forward.
Overall, "Nearly Morning" is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is still hope. The song empathizes with those who feel alone and offers a message of encouragement and solidarity.
