Gum trees put me at ease
I find comfort in the gum trees

Their tall grey limbs, their sheltering green
I find the tall grey branches and greenery of the gum trees to be protective

And though I like to roam far

The light on the leaves, there's gold in the trees
The sunlight reflecting on the leaves causes the trees to appear golden

See these days, I'm bound to cities and crowds
Currently, I am constrained to living in cities and amongst masses of people

But some days I yearn, and I have to return
On occasion, I feel an intense longing and need to go back to my roots

To the shimmering heat of the bold hot sun
Returning back home means re-immersing myself in the overwhelming, sweltering sun

That bears down endlessly
The sun's rays constantly shine down without relenting

A shy little breeze, gathers with me
A delicate breeze begins to blow and I feel as if it is with me in this moment

I sit and I gaze at the space where you used to be
I sit and stare into the space where you once were

The rains will come, washed and undone
Eventually, rain will fall and cleanse everything

I sit and I dream of the way you used to be
While I sit here, I reminisce of the way things were in the past
