Nathan Barlowe has been writing songs and playing in bands since the age of 14. He moved to Nashville to pursue a music career and immediately began to make his mark on the music scene. After graduating high school his younger brother Cary made the move to Nashville to join Luna Halo. "I taught him 4 chords before I left, and 2 years later I couldn't believe how good he was. There was no choice...he had to be in my band", says Nathan.
After adding a rhythm section, the band would enter into what would be years of writing, recording, and touring which saw them play hundreds of shows, to thousands of people in 10 countries. This period would bring about a developmental deal with Dreamworks Records which soon folded , an ill fated deal with Interscope, a stint at Warner Brothers, before finally being signed by Rick Rubin to his American Recordings label (Black Crowes, Slayer, Jonny Cash). In the fall of 2007 the self titled "LUNA HALO" (American/Columbia), was released to critical acclaim. Produced by Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan), and executive produced by Rick Rubin himself, Luna Halo had crafted an Alternative/Pop record full of memorable songs.
These songs would go on to be covered by country sensation Taylor Swift, and used by numerous film and television shows including The Hills, The O.C., American Idol, Ghost Whisperer, American Teen, as well as being the theme song for the NHL playoffs and the hit TV series The King of Queens.
As the band forges ahead while navigating the ever changing ebb and flow of the ocean that is the music industry, there is a new sense of urgency and commitment. They have recently added drummer Jonathan Smith, a long time friend and session drummer, and Swedish import Victor Broden on bass. Both have done extensive touring and are bringing raw energy and passion to the Luna Halo sound.
In the Summer of 2009 they will release a series of 3 EP's that will begin a new era in the way music is recorded and released. "We just want to be able to get the music to the fans in a faster and more direct way. It's our goal to have a constant stream of new music coming out", says Nathan.
With a new approach, and the defiant, never give up attitude that has come to define this band. Luna Halo will be making their mark for years to come.

But I don't really know for sure
And it's hard to be rejected
When you don't know what you're living for
But talk is cheap
When your tongue is where your heart should be
Your lies have been detected
'Cause every time you say something predictable
It's the same damn thing I've heard before
I never thought that love could ever be so cruel
But every time we touch, so unforgettable
You know you turn me out, I lose control
It's like you know that it's my role to play the fool
The warning bells are ringing
I hear them start to take their toll
Your lovely eyes are changing
You're not the one you were before
You wear the mask
And we dance pirouettes until the sun is cast
The masquerade has ended
This charade is never going to last
'Cause every time you say something predictable
It's the same damn thing I've heard before
You've got to give me something I can hold on to
But every time we touch, so unforgettable
You know you turn me out, I lose control
It's like you know that it's my role to play the fool
For you
For you
The lyrics of "The Fool" by Luna Halo express a sense of frustration and confusion in a relationship. The singer addresses their partner's tendency to put up a façade, claiming to be an actress. The singer is unsure if their partner is being genuine or not, leaving them feeling rejected and lost. The chorus expresses the singer's disappointment in their partner's predictability, and their inability to provide anything to hold onto in the relationship. Despite this, the singer still feels deeply connected to their partner and unable to resist their pull even though they feel like a fool in the relationship.
The song seems to be about someone who is not being their true self in a relationship, putting up a front and making it hard for their partner to trust them. The lyrics also suggest that the singer themselves might also be contributing to the problems in the relationship, feeling like it's their "role to play the fool" in the dynamic. The use of the word "masquerade" suggests that this behavior is a deliberate act, and not just a misunderstanding. However, the singer ultimately wants the relationship to work and is hoping for their partner to become more open and honest.
Overall, Luna Halo's "The Fool" is an emotional and introspective song about the complexities of a troubled relationship. It explores the layers of deception and longing that can exist between two people.
