Only one year later "Auf dunklen Schwingen" was released, another Demo. After that Voices Productions signed the band and in 1996 Lunar Aurora recorded their first official album, which was called "Weltengänger". With the albums "Ars Moriendi", "Elixir of Sorrow", "Zyklus" and "Mond", this band from Rosenheim established their status as one of the most visionary, unique and important projects in the German metal-scene.
The sound of every release can be considered as slightly different as the sound on the previous one. Generally Lunar Aurora's creations have a dark, cold and spiritual feeling. Using the Keyboard in a intelligent and never exaggerated way they are able to conjure a deep atmosphere.
In 2007, the band released its 8th studio album, "Andacht", after which Lunar Aurora split.
In 2011 Lunar Aurora's label (http://www.cold-dimensions.de) announced that they were back and working on a new album. On March the 2nd, through Cold Dimensions, "Hoagascht" was released. The album only features lyrics sung in the Upper Bavarian dialect, rather than standard German.
In the autumn of 2012, Lunar Aurora split up again.

Schwarze Winde
Lunar Aurora Lyrics

Noch der Funke einstigen Lebens glimmt,
Wo im Blut auf des Schnitters Klinge
Man noch alte Wärme wähnt
Und das Nichts
Nicht mehr nur inwendig wohnt.
Wo in alten, verblassenden Bildern
Wo ein letzter Schritt, ein letztes Wort
Auf ewig unvollendet bleibt.
Dann kauert, duckt und bangt!
Weil schwarze Winde dräuend türmen.
Schwarze Winde...
Unter meinen Schwingen.
Schwarze Winde...
Ein Schweben wird zum Fallen,
Im Fluge die Leben vergingen.
Eisige Nebel
Gefrier'n in meinen Augen,
Kalt packt das Vergessen,
Das mich bereits erreichte.
Wo ein altes Haupt, ewiges Sinnen
In heiliger Einfalt gebeugt.
Wo quälend altes Erinnern
Tausend Träume grausam zu Grabe trägt.
Da lauscht dem Klang der Totenglocke,
Dort, von fernen Ufern her.
Dann kauert, duckt und bangt!
Weil schwarze Winde dräuend türmen.
Schwarze Winde...
Unter meinen Schwingen.
Schwarze Winde...
Ein Schweben wird zum Fallen,
Im Fluge die Leben vergingen.
Wohin ich auch gehen muss,
Erhebt er sich steil und blickt zurück.
Wohin mein Weg mich auch führt,
Wird mein Auge das seine sein
Und sehen... Aug in Aug.
The lyrics of "Schwarze Winde" by Lunar Aurora describe a world where death is present everywhere, and there is no escape from it. The singer of the song talks about places where even the smallest traces of life cannot survive and where the only remnants of the past are fading images and memories that remain unfulfilled. The mention of the reaper's blade, the blood, and the internal void suggest a world that is cruel and unforgiving.
The chorus, "Schwarze Winde", which means black winds, conveys the sense of darkness and despair looming overhead, threatening to consume everything in its path. It is as though the singer is soaring in the air, watching people's lives fall apart beneath them, powerless to help. The line "Ein Schweben wird zum Fallen, im Fluge die Leben vergingen" translates to "A hovering becomes falling, in flight, lives passed away", and it captures the idea that life can end at any moment, without warning.
The third verse is a reflection on old age, where the mind is feeble, and memories can be more painful than pleasant. The singer likens old age to a listening to the sound of a funeral bell from a distance, a reminder of mortality. The final lines, "Wohin ich auch gehen muss, Erhebt er sich steil und blickt zurück. Wohin mein Weg mich auch führt, Wird mein Auge das seine sein Und sehen... Aug in Aug" translates to "Wherever I have to go, it stands tall and looks back. Wherever my path leads me, my eye will be his, and see... eye to eye." These lines suggest that no matter where the singer goes, death will always be present, watching and waiting.

Wo in den eisigen Spuren des Todes
In the cold, deathly traces
Noch der Funke einstigen Lebens glimmt,
Lingering remains of past life still glimmer
Wo im Blut auf des Schnitters Klinge
Amidst the blood on the reaper's blade
Man noch alte Wärme wähnt
One still imagines old warmth
Und das Nichts
But nothingness
Nicht mehr nur inwendig wohnt.
No longer confined within
Wo in alten, verblassenden Bildern
In faded, old images
Noch ein letzter Atemzug strömt,
A final breath still lingers
Wo ein letzter Schritt, ein letztes Wort
Where a last step, a final word
Auf ewig unvollendet bleibt.
Forever remains unfinished
Dann kauert, duckt und bangt!
Cowering, huddling in fear!
Weil schwarze Winde dräuend türmen.
As black winds ominously tower.
Schwarze Winde...

Where an ancient head, eternal thought
In heiliger Einfalt gebeugt.
Is bent in sacred simplicity.
Wo quälend altes Erinnern
Where tormenting old memories
Tausend Träume grausam zu Grabe trägt.
Mourns a thousand dreams cruelly to the grave.
Da lauscht dem Klang der Totenglocke,
Listening to the sound of the death bell
Dort, von fernen Ufern her.
From far-off shores.
Wohin ich auch gehen muss,
Wherever I must go,
Erhebt er sich steil und blickt zurück.
He rises steeply and looks back.
Wohin mein Weg mich auch führt,
Wherever my path may lead me,
Wird mein Auge das seine sein
My eye will be his
Und sehen... Aug in Aug.
And we will see...eye to eye.
