Lunic has shared the stage with artists such as Moby, Lights, Public Image Ltd., Youngblood Hawke, Mindless Self Indulgence, Company of Thieves, Dredg, Meiko, San Cisco, & Bell X1. Her performance is, "a psychedelic display of lyric poetry in the form of an understated, powerful show." -TriState Indie. In 2012 Lunic was the winner of the PlanetRox competition and was chosen as the US headliner for the Envol et Macadam Festival in Quebec City, Canada. In 2013 Lunic was the Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Electronic Category for her song, "War." In 2014 she was a semi-finalist in the rock category of the International Songwriting Competition for her song, "Magic Love-Hate Thing."
Page, born in upstate NY, attended university in Nashville, TN and moved to Los Angeles in 2003. Her experience as a performer began as an electric violinist and keyboard player in various LA-based pop/rock bands, most notably the Australian rock band Porcelain (Universal Records). Page began writing songs in early 2005 after seeing the British alt. rock band Muse perform live at Coachella Music Festival. In 2007 she relocated to London, and spent the next 7 years touring, traveling the world, writing new music, & studying Spanish, French, & German. Much of the inspiration for her writing is derived from her travels. To date she has visited 25 countries.
Her first release, in 2006, was a collection of piano-based alternative songs called The Uglylights (demos), written & recorded in California, followed quickly by the EP Splinter, recorded in London in just 3 days. They were followed up in 2009 by Lunic's first fan-funded album Lovethief, written & recorded in upstate NY. In 2012, she released Future Sex Drama, a full-length written & recorded in Germany & New York City, originally described as “sultry, ethereal synthpop” by Lunic herself. She has also released a plethora of digital singles on iTunes over the years: Beautiful, Dichotomy, Oh No Yoko!, Magic Love-Hate Thing, Far Away (Radio Edit), The Dark House (Elliot Tribal Remix).
On Future Sex Drama, Lunic begins taking her first steps as a producer, bringing together the experimentation behind her early work and a cutting edge pop aesthetic. A blend of dark ethereal synthpop and electronic rock similar to Metric, The xx, Lights or Ladytron, Future Sex Drama is, "Glossy enough for the dance floor but retaining that sinister edge." -CMJ. Each album tackles a different set of influences and styles. This approach has allowed the project to remain flexible and evolving.

Wake Up
Lunic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
look around
what are you doing with your life?
where are you going?
are you happy?
is this what you want?
stop
raise your glass
self-medicating prophecy
disonnected mind and body
is this what you wanted?
wake up!
the mistakes you're making won't erase the pain
this is the break down
where you face up take back all you gave away
so you can take down
all the hate inside
remember where you came from
is this who you'd always thought you'd be?
stop
change your name
step right up on stage
smile
take a bow
give them what they want
why you crying? isn't this what you wanted?!
wake up!
the mistakes you're making
won't erase the pain
this is the break down
where you face up take back all you gave away
so you can take down
all the hate inside
remember where you came from
is this who you'd always thought you'd be?
lying still like a corpse, starving
you're heavy head is never empty
you're losing the race but you keep coming
you keep coming back for more
The song "Wake Up" by Lunic is essentially a call to action for those who feel stuck in a negative cycle, whether it be addiction or self-doubt. The lyrics urge the listener to stop and reflect on their life choices and whether they are truly happy with the direction they are headed. The first verse questions whether the current state of being is what the listener truly wanted, while the second verse paints a picture of someone who has achieved some level of success ("step right up on stage, give them what they want") but is still feeling unfulfilled ("why you crying?").
The chorus is the titular "wake up" call, reminding the listener that mistakes won't erase pain, and it's time to face up and take back what has been given away. The final verse describes someone struggling but still persevering, with a "heavy head" that is "never empty." Overall, the song encourages the listener to break free from negative patterns and start living a life that is true to themselves.
