Oh How I Love Jesus
Luther Barnes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in mine ear,
The sweetest name on earth.
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
It tells me of a Savior's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!
It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part
That none can bear below.
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!
In Luther Barnes's gospel hymn "Oh How I Love Jesus," he expresses his deep love and reverence for the name of Jesus. The repetitive use of the phrase "Oh, how I love Jesus" throughout the song highlights the depth of emotion that Barnes feels for Jesus. He sings that hearing and singing the name of Jesus is like hearing music to his ears and declares that it is the sweetest name on earth.
The song goes on to speak of Jesus as a savior who died to set us all free and who shed his precious blood, which serves as the perfect plea for sinners to attain salvation. It tells of a loving God who can feel our deepest sorrows and bears our burdens with us. Ultimately, Barnes reminds the listener that our love for Jesus is rooted in the fact that he first loved us, and this realization is what leads us to love him in return, worship him and seek his grace and mercy.
The song's message of love and devotion to Jesus has resonated with many gospel music fans over the years, and it has become one of the most well-known hymns in the genre. Its soulful and uplifting melody, as well as the simple yet powerful lyrics, make it a favorite for many singers and congregations.

I like the song and we are going to practice it on tomorrow night for Sunday service. However, I cannot send a copy to the choir. So I quess we will have to go on the lead singer remembrance.
