The lyrics of Luther Barnes's song "See What The Lord Has Done" speak to the theme of gratitude and acknowledging the blessings and miracles that the Lord has bestowed upon the singer. The repeated refrain "See what the Lord has done" emphasizes the importance of recognizing and appreciating the actions and provisions of the Lord in one's life. By urging listeners to count their blessings, the song encourages a reflection on the abundance of grace and mercy from the divine.
The verses highlight specific instances of God's goodness in the singer's life, such as waking up each morning and being provided with food to eat. These everyday occurrences are framed as gifts from the Lord that should not be taken for granted. The lyrics express a deep sense of thankfulness for these basic necessities and a recognition that even the seemingly small acts of provision are evidence of the Lord's care and love.
The song further delves into the idea of healing, both physical and spiritual. The singer testifies to experiencing divine healing in their body and encourages others who may be facing sickness to believe in the power of God to bring restoration and wholeness. The repeated declaration of "He healed this body of mine" underscores a personal experience of miraculous intervention and serves as a testament to the singer's faith in the healing capacity of the Lord.
The concluding verses of the song shift towards a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards God for the multitude of blessings received. From the basic necessities of water, bread, and shelter to the more intangible gifts of sunshine, rain, health, and strength, the singer displays a deep appreciation for every aspect of life that is sustained and provided by the Lord. The repeated chorus of "Thank you, Jesus" serves as a humble acknowledgment of the goodness and faithfulness of God and a reminder to continually offer gratitude for all that has been given. Ultimately, "See What The Lord Has Done" is a powerful anthem of thanksgiving and praise, encouraging listeners to reflect on the many ways in which the Lord has shown love, mercy, and abundant blessings.
