Trouble in my way, I have to cry sometimes.
I lay awake at night, but that's alright;
Jesus will fix it after while.
Stepped, stepped in the furnace a long time ago;
Shadrech, Meshach and Abendigo.
No, they were not worried, oh, this I know;
Trouble in my way, I have to cry sometimes.
Trouble in my way, I have to cry sometimes.
I lay awake at night, but that's alright;
Jesus will fix it after while.
Jesus, He will fix it.
Gonna be alright.
It's gonna be alright in the morning,
He's gonna make a way.
The song "Trouble in my Way" by Luther Barnes & The Red Budd Gospel Choir speaks of the struggles and trials one may face in life, but also emphasizes the hope and faith in Jesus to overcome these troubles. The first verse expresses the common human experience of having to cry sometimes when faced with difficulties, but the singer finds comfort in knowing that Jesus will fix it after a while. The second verse alludes to the biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were thrown into a fiery furnace for their refusal to worship the Babylonian king's golden image. Despite being in a life-threatening situation, these three men were unafraid because they trusted in God to protect them. The chorus then repeats the idea that trouble may come, but in the end, it will be alright because Jesus will fix it.
Overall, the song is both a recognition of the hardships of life and a message of hope and faith in Jesus. The lyrics and melody seek to encourage the listener to hold on to the belief that Jesus will provide the strength and support necessary to endure difficult circumstances. The song's simple structure and repetition of key phrases make it easy to sing along and remember, adding to its ability to provide comfort and encouragement.
