Lykke Li ft. Bon Iver Lyrics

But I can dance, dance, dance
Couldn't possibly tell you how I mean
But I can dance, dance, dance
So when I'm tripping my feet, look at the beat
The words are written in the sand
When I'm shaking my hips, look for the swing
Ooh dance, I was a dancer all along
Dance, dance, dance
Words could never make up for what you do
Easy conversations, no such thing
No, I'm shy, shy, shy
My hips they lie cause in reality
I'm shy, shy, shy
So when I'm tripping my feet, look at the ground
The words are written in the dust
When I'm shaking my hips, look for the swing
The words are written in the air
Ooh dance, I was a dancer all along
Dance, dance, dance
Words could never make up for what you do
Ooh dance, I was a dancer all along
Dance, dance, dance
Words could never make up for what you do
Ooh dance, I was a dancer all along
Dance, dance, dance
Words could never make up for what you do
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Dance, dance, dance
Lykke Li's "Dance Dance Dance" is a song about expressing oneself through movement rather than words. The lyrics suggest that the singer struggles to articulate her feelings, but can convey them through dance. She describes herself as shy, but when she dances, she is free and in her element. The chorus repeats the phrase "dance, dance, dance," asserting that dance is a part of her identity and a powerful form of communication.
The verses of the song describe the physicality of dance, with references to tripping feet, shaking hips, and the words that are written in the air or in the dust. The imagery suggests that dance leaves behind a tangible mark, a trace of the emotion and energy that goes into it. The line "my hips they lie cause in reality I'm shy" is a nod to the popular Shakira song "Hips Don't Lie," but also a statement about the dichotomy between the singer's outward expression and her true self.
Overall, "Dance Dance Dance" is a celebration of the power of dance as a means of expression and connection. It suggests that words are not enough to convey certain feelings, and that dance can bridge that gap. It's a reminder to let go of inhibitions and embrace the physicality and joy of movement.

My entire 5th and 6th grade class used to all get up and dance to this when our super cool free-spirit teacher played it. We all came up with this hilariously awkward dance to do to it and knew it only as "The Kazoo Solo Song". One time we had this little outdoor festival during school and my teacher let us organize a little flashmob. We all chose this song and I choreographed it with all my friends, it kinda brought us together a little I think. One of my best memories from school
