Tuesdays' Gone
Lynard Skynard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Train roll on, on down the line,
Wont you please take me far away?
Now I feel the wind blow outside my door,
Means Im leaving my woman behind.
Tuesdays gone with the wind.
My womans gone with the wind.

And I dont know where Im going.
I just want to be left alone.
Well, when this train ends Ill try again,
But Im leaving my woman at home.

(chorus)
Tuesdays gone with the wind.
Tuesdays gone with the wind.
Tuesdays gone with the wind.
My womans gone with the wind.

Train roll on many miles from my home,
See, Im riding my blues away.
Tuesday, you see, she had to be free
But somehow Ive got to carry on.

(chorus)

Overall Meaning

The song "Tuesday's Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd was written by lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Allen Collins. The lyrics talk about leaving someone behind and trying to find one's direction in life. The train symbolizes the escape from the troubles and the woman left at home represents the singer's past life. In the first verse, the singer requests the train to take him far away and expresses his desire to leave his woman behind. He knows that his life is going to change, and he is uncertain of where his destination will lead him.

In the chorus, the lyrics "Tuesday's gone with the wind" and "My woman's gone with the wind" refer to the fact that both Tuesday and the singer's woman have vanished into the past, and he has to accept that reality. The second verse talks about how the singer is trying to get over his troubles by riding his blues away. He acknowledges that he has to carry on despite the pain and heartbreak.

Overall, the song's message is about the difficulty of leaving behind someone or something that was once cherished and finding a way to move forward. It's a powerful portrayal of the universal experience of grief and loss and serves as a poignant reminder that time waits for no one.

Train roll on
On down the line, won't you
Please take me far away
Now I feel the wind blow
Outside my door, means I'm
I'm leaving my woman at home, Lordy
Tuesday's gone with the wind
Oh, my baby's gone, with the wind
And I don't know
Oh, where I'm going
I just want to be left alone
Well, when this train ends
I'll try again, oh but I'm
I'm leaving my woman at home, Lordy
Tuesday's gone, with the wind
Tuesday's gone, with the wind
Tuesday's gone, with the wind
My baby's gone, with the wind
Train roll on
Tuesday's gone
The train roll on
A many miles from my home, see I'm
I'm riding my blues away, yeah
Well Tuesday, you see
Oh, she had to be free, Lord but
Somehow I got to carry on, Lordy
Tuesday's gone, with the wind
Tuesday's gone, with the wind
Tuesday's gone, with the wind, oh
My baby's gone, with the wind
Train, roll on, ooh
'Cause my baby's gone
I'm riding my blues babe
Trying to ride my blues
Ride on train
Ride on train
Ride my blues, babe
Come back to me, babe
Come back to me, oh, train

Not really but I did hook up with a girl and she asked if I could come back every Tuesday. I lost her number and when I went back there was people cleaning her house and I asked where she was and they told me to get the hell out of there.
I've gone back a couple times and now there's someone else living there.
She was smoking hot, but kind of sketchy and I like to tell myself that I just dodged a bullet.

Maybe you did too?
