forgive me

Only gonna break my heart love
I don't really wanna start love
Forgive me, babe
What'cha gon do with my love
Only gonna break my heart love
I don't really wanna start love
Forgive me, babe
Now I try to be an honest man
I try the best I can
That's why I'm telling you
Love's got me scared of you
If my heart should break inside
I mean just one more time
I might crash and burn
Maybe then I will learn
Now I don't wanna lose my baby
But this love's got me crazy
Ain't nothing wrong with you
I'm just trying to keep it true
Now I could have lied instead
Just to get you in my bed
Now I try to be an honest man
I try the best that I can
Maybe you know how much I care
But I just cannot go there
You might be like the other's babe
I would love you if I could
But I don't think that I should
'Cause you might be like the other's babe, the other's
babe...
(Chorus/Vamp Out)
This is love...
Lynden David Hall's song Forgive Me tackles the theme of love, honesty, and fear. The chorus repeats the question of what will the other person do with their love, which the singer believes will only lead to heartbreak. The singer expresses a fear of being hurt and is honest with their intentions of not wanting to start the relationship even though they care deeply for the other person. The singer admits that love's got them scared of the other person, suggesting their past experiences with love have left them hurt and has made them hesitant to pursue a new relationship.
The stanza "Maybe you know how much I care, but I just cannot go there" expresses the inner conflict of the singer, who wants to pursue the relationship but is held back by their fear. The line "You might be like the other's babe, the other's babe" shows that the singer may have been hurt in past relationships, and they are hesitant to repeat the same mistake of loving the wrong person. The singer admits that they would love to be with the other person, but they think they should hold back due to their fear.
The song's lyrics paint a picture of an individual who is struggling with their feelings of love and fear of being hurt again. This struggle makes them unable to commit to a relationship even though they want to. The honesty in the lyrics is commendable, as the singer is aware of their limitations and does not lead on the other person.
