Coming together in 1991, during the No More Tours supposed-retirement tour for Ozzy's No More Tears, the band was originally named Lynyrd Skynhead and included the former White Lion rhythm section of bassist James LoMenzo and drummer Greg D'Angelo alongside Wylde. Although credited solely as 'Zakk Wylde' solo tracks, this line-up actually released two individual recordings; a raucous Southern instrumental entitled "Farm Fiddlin'" on a compilation called Guitars That Rule the World (1991) and a cover of the blues-standard "Baby Please Don't Go" on the first L.A. Blues Authority compilation (1992).
In early 1994 D'Angelo was replaced by Brian Tichy, this was at the same time that the band changed their name to Pride & Glory, and by May released their self-titled debut - and only - album, on Geffen Records. In June of that year, the band performed as a main stage act at the Donington Monsters of Rock Festival in England. In November 1994 LoMenzo left after their tour of Japan, 3 days before the beginning of their US Tour. Zakk managed to find a replacement for James in his long time friend John 'J.D.' DeServio. The band played their last show on December 10th 1994 in Los Angeles in which Slash, guitarist of popular rock band Guns N' Roses (also signed to Geffen Records) played the songs Voodoo Child and Red House with the band. On January 31, 1998, the original Pride & Glory band reunited for a one-off reunion show at the Whiskey in Hollywood, CA. This momentous occasion was believed to be bootlegged, but no video has turned up anywhere.
I Don't Know
Lynyrd Skynhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Is the end near,
When is the final day
What's the future of mankind
How do i know,
I got left behind
Everyone goes through changes
Looking to find the truth
Don't ask me
I don't know
How am i supposed to know
Hidden meanings that will never show
Fools and prophets from the past
Life's a stage
And we're all in the cast
Ya gotta believe in someone
Asking me who is right,
Asking me who to follow,
Don't ask me,
I don't know,
I don't know
I don't know
I don't know
Nobody ever told me
I found out for myself
Ya gotta believe in foolish miracles
It's not how you play the game
It's if you win or lose
You can choose
Don't confuse win or lose,
It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you
(solo)
People look to me and say
Is the end near,
When is the final day
What's the future of mankind
How do i know,
I got left behind
Everyone goes through changes
Looking to find the truth
Don't look at me for answers
Don't ask me
I don't know
How am i supposed to know
Hidden meanings that will never show
Fools and prophets from the past
Life's a stage
And we're all in the cast
Ya gotta believe in someone
Asking me who is right,
Asking me who to follow,
Don't ask me,
I don't know,
I don't know
I don't know
I don't know
The song "I Don't Know" by Lynyrd Skynyrd is about someone being asked about the future of mankind and questions about the end of the world. The singer is unsure of these answers and suggests that everyone goes through changes and is looking for the truth. The lyrics suggest that life is unpredictable and there are hidden meanings that will never be revealed. The song expresses a feeling of frustration and a lack of control over the future.
The chorus emphasizes the singer’s ignorance and the impossibility of knowing everything. The message of the song is to encourage people to believe in themselves and their own abilities to create their own future. The song suggests that ultimately, our future is up to us and we have the ability to choose our own path.

Mama told me when I was young
"Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it'll help you
Some sunny day"
Oh, yeah
Oh, take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman, yeah, and you'll find love
And don't forget son there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Oh, yes, I will
Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this, oh, baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
Baby, be a simple, be a simple man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man

@sts9896
2022 was the toughest year of my life, lost my way, got betrayed by family, lost my job, my car, my girl left me and I lost my place too, I was homeless and felt truly alone, like I couldn't trust anyone, lost a lot of my confidence too, I've liked this song since I was 12, but it became my favorite of all time in this tough period I went through and I won't ever change that
in the darkness, this song was all I heard, simple man has been my alarm for the last year, it wakes me up every morning and I'd be lying if I said I didn't let it play all the way through most times
this last October for the first time I bought a car cash, it makes me really happy and grateful for my tough experiences because looking back, I can see it made me stronger and in a way I got to know myself better, I got to see that I have a damn iron-will, I thank God for giving me that and I also ask for forgiveness for thinking I was alone, I see he was there all along, like a father who is walking with his son and the son trips and falls, a lesson in life that only a father can teach is to get back up on your own, a man must be able to pick himself back up and dust himself off, I see now that God was molding me, he's preparing me for what's to come
anyway, that's my car out the way, solid, completely mine
next goal is to buy land, no more monthly payments on rent soon, something solid
sorry for the long comment just felt inspired, but the main point is this song helped keep me up at my lowest, Skynyrd forever

Being "simple" is not to be confused with being empty, or not complex. It means to bring yourself down to earth. Life is messy and hard as hell, but keep calmness within yourself, don't get too stressed, don't get overwhelmed. Keep it simple. Let yourself be relaxed.
