The lyrics to Lyricson's "Night and Day" convey a sense of urgency and a call for action in response to the struggles faced by people living in ghetto neighborhoods. The repetition of the phrase "But dem a still like ice" throughout the song suggests that despite the harsh conditions faced by these individuals, they remain resilient and unyielding. The use of the word "fishes" to describe the ghetto population could be interpreted as a metaphor for their vulnerability and susceptibility to being preyed upon by those in power. Additionally, the references to Marcus Garvey, the Rastafarian movement, and a call to awaken "di poor and da pilgrims" suggest a desire for social and political change.
The chorus of "Night and Day" emphasizes the importance of seeking solutions before it is too late, perhaps indicating that immediate action is necessary to avoid further harm. The line "This a will how so we love" could be interpreted as a declaration of one's commitment to fighting for justice and equality. The song ends with a series of names and phrases, including "jah jah", "Thunda crew", "My people", and "must see de lights", which could be seen as an invocation or a rallying cry for a collective effort to address the issues faced by ghetto communities.
