Born in Odense, Denmark, MØ was just seven when the Spice Girls inspired her to make music. In her teenage years, she sang in the punk duo MOR and looked up to Kim Gordon as a "big hero and role model". Then in her early twenties, she "fell in love" with hip-hop. All of these influences led to her dreamy electro-pop vibe as MØ, which means "maiden" or "virgin" in Danish.
In 2012, she and Ronni Vindahl began to collaborate on her first tracks. Glass was released in Janurary 2013, and Pilgrim followed in March. MØ was recognized as P3s Uundgåelige (P3 Unavoidable), a label given to rising artists by Danish radio station DR P3, as Pilgrim charted on the Danish Singles Chart. In November, she released her debut EP, Bikini Daze. Finishing out the year, she won the P3 Guld award in December.
In March 2014, she released her album No Mythologies to Follow and began touring in Europe and North America. It was supported by singles Don't Wanna Dance, Say You'll Be There (Spice Girls cover), and Walk This Way. In October 2014, she was featured on Iggy Azalea's single Beg For It and performed on Saturday Night Live — her first entry on the US Billboard charts peaking at #27. In 2015, MØ contributed vocals to Lean On, the Major Lazer and DJ Snake dancehall hit that reached #4 on the US Billboard and topped several other charts around the world.
In 2016, MØ released two singles for her upcoming second studio album — both Kamikaze and Final Song charted in several countries, with the latter reaching #1 on the UK charts. Cold Water, featuring Justin Bieber and MØ, was another Major Lazer track that reached 2 on the Billboard charts in August.

Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh-oh
Snow fall some how it's doesn't melt boy when it hits you, why?
What you want is slowly losing one love
You say you don't know you were gonna
Break my heart on the winter night
It's that what you want is
Say the words and I'll be gone now.
Show you I was gonna lose you to the blue.
Where is the love we had? Love we had?
Where is the love we had? Ooh
What a waste of time.
Why does it hurt so bad? Hurt so bad
Why do you always make me cry? Ooh
What a waste of time.
You said I was your beat, what the fuck!
Oh what a waste of time
Now I am just your bitch, what the fuck!
Ooh what a waste of time
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh-oh
Why this storm how walking on the glass of your broken vows?
Well what I say we're a straight fooled by youth OK
What you wanted is slowly losing one love
Uh, I told you you were gonna take a run on a winter night.
Is that really what you wanted?
Say the words say the words
I'd a told you i was gonna losing you to what is cruel
Where is the love we had? The love we had?
Where is the love we had? Ooh
What a waste of time.
Why does it hurt so bad? Hurt so bad
Why do you always make me cry? Ooh
What a waste of time.
Where is the love we had? The love we had?
Why do you always make me cry? Ooh
What a waste of time.
You said I was your beat what the fuck!
Save it for the girl you like
Ooh what a waste of time
Now I am just your bitch, what the fuck!
Ooh what a waste of time.
The song "Waste of Time" by MØ is a melancholic, introspective piece that delves into the confusion and heartbreak of a failing relationship. The opening lines of the song paint a stark image of snow falling but not melting, symbolizing the coldness and permanence of the emotions being expressed. The singer expresses her sense of confusion and loss, as the love that once seemed so strong is now slipping away slowly. The winter night, a metaphor for the end of the relationship, is made even more poignant by the betrayal that has occurred. The singer questions the sincerity of her lover, asking if this was what he wanted all along.
The chorus then repeats the theme of loss and frustration, as the singer asks where the love they once shared has gone. She questions why it hurts so much to let go of something that seems to have died and laments the fact that her lover always seems to make her cry. The frustration reaches a peak as the singer accuses her lover of lying to her, saying that while he once called her his "beat," he has now reduced her to nothing more than his "bitch."
All of these emotions are conveyed through a melancholic melody that is enhanced by the repetition of the "oh"s that punctuate each stanza. The use of repetition is also evident in the chorus, which is repeated with increasing intensity as the song progresses. As a whole, "Waste of Time" is a powerful and emotive song that captures the pain and confusion of a relationship gone wrong.
