She has had the nickname Möhre (which means carrot) ever since she was in primary school. First she studied Italian, Spanish and Musical- and Mediascience at the Düsseldorf university. Later she also studied Music at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig.
In 1994, she joined the "Compagnia 82" theatre group. Two years later, she became a member of Die Fabulösen Thekenschlampen. She also was a member of the improvisation-theatre Frizzles, where she was noticed for her enormous amount of talking.
In the summer of 2001, she performed regularly at the discotheque "Oberbayern" on Mallorca. The same year her first single "20 Zentimeter" was released. After that, her second single "Pack Ihn Ein" ("Put It Away") was published in the same year and followed by "Wir ham doch keine Zeit" in 2003. Mirja is also a member of the Mallorca Allstars. They interpret famous German songs of the Neue Deutsche Welle.
Since 2002, Mirja Boes has been a regular guest on TV. Together with the comedians Ralf Schmitz (followed by Mathias Schlung in 2006) and Markus Majowski she played sketches in the TV-living-community "Die Dreisten Drei" until 2006. She was replaced by Janine Kunze. After this she was a guest on TV Total, Elton.tv, Anke Late Night, Frei Schnauze, Genial Danben and the Gong Show (all of which are German comedy shows). In 2005, she co-starred with Tom Gerhardt in the movie "Siegfried" as well as a comedy tv-adaptation of "Urmel aus dem Eis" (the original is a German puppeteer show for children). She plays the waran Wawa.
2006 she started filming for a new comedy series called Angie, where she plays a perfume seller, who keeps putting her foot in time after time.
Mirja also took part in the campagne "Gib AIDS keine Chance" (Don't give AIDS a chance"), which was initiated by the German Federal Agency for Health Education.
Mirja Boes is an admited fan of Borussia Mönchengladbach (German football team).
