Call Me
M-AGE Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face
From the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
Ride the snake,
Ride the snake
To the lake,
The ancient lake, baby
The snake, he's long,
Seven miles
He's old
And his skin is cold
He went into the room where his sister lived,
And then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door
And he looked inside
"Father?" "Yes, son?"
"I want to kill you"
"Mother?
The name is Plissken
Slow down dickhead

Come on baby, take a chance with us
Come on baby, take a chance with us

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to M-AGE's song Call Me are actually a reference to Jim Morrison's lyrics in The Doors' song, The End. In this particular excerpt, M-AGE is referencing the scene where the singer of the song is walking down the hall, about to confront his father. The killer awakes before dawn, putting on his boots and then taking a face from the ancient gallery. This act of taking a face could be interpreted as the killer trying to put on a persona, or trying to embody someone else in order to complete his act of violence. He then walks down the hall, riding the snake - a symbol of death that has been used in various cultures throughout history - to the ancient lake, which could be seen as symbolic of the afterlife. The killer's journey to the lake could be interpreted as a foreshadowing of his own inevitable death.

The lyrics then transition to the killer confronting his family members, first visiting his sister and brother, and then walking down the hall toward his father. When he enters the room, he essentially announces his intention to kill his father, saying "Father?...I want to kill you". The name dropping of Plissken and the phrase "slow down dickhead" seem to be references to the 1981 film Escape from New York, suggesting that the song isn't meant to be taken entirely seriously.

Overall, the lyrics to M-AGE's Call Me are a dark and violent reference to The Doors' song The End, featuring a protagonist who is on a path of destruction and confronts his family members before facing his own eventual death.
