M.I.A. Lyrics

I was missing in action
On the side of a carton
I was taken in a Datsun
From a street in Acton

I was sipping on a Rubicon
Thinking 'bout where I come
It's all this for revolution
Cutting up the coupon
Saving for a telephone
Can I call home
Please can I go home

Painted nails, sunsets on horizons
Palm tree silhouette smells amazing
Blindfolds under home made lanterns
Somewhere in the Amazon
They're holding me ransom

Hello, this is M.I.A.
Could you please
Come get me

Smoking on a Benson
Trying to get me undone
Let me go
I don't want your attention
Under submission
Out of frustration I'll do it
I'll scream for the nation

Painted nails, sunsets on horizons
Palm tree silhouette smells amazing
Blindfolds under home made lanterns
Somewhere in the Amazon
They're holding me ransom

Hello, this is M.I.A.
Could you please
Come get me

Minutes turned to hours
And became our dates
When we shared raindrops
That turned into lakes
Bodies started merging
And the lines got gray
Now I'm looking at him thinking
Maybe he's OK

Hello, this is M.I.A.
It's OK
You forgot me

i dont think it's intended to have a political message. i can't even see how that's possible - nothing is said of the kidnapper's motivations, and the persona falls in love with them only for stockholm syndrome. what, she's forgotten by society, just like how our society forgets all of us? if it's a political message, then it's very incoherent

now, if u believe this guy saying this quote's from mia

http://songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858545804/?&specific_com=73015193493#comments

then if the song has a political message, then it is, as i have gathered from that word salad mia just doled out, about the culture shock she has going from the very direct sexual norms of hthe uk to the extremely reserved sexual norms of sri lanka, and how hate comes from people not really understanding each other as individuals

the quote sure sounds like mia. it seems like she was just inspired by these situations, and she's not actually trying to send out a political message

if u ask me, here's all the message this song has:

"i have been kidnapped. send help. oops, stockholm syndrome. never mind."

her music isn't for everyone, if you smart enough to understand every song then you'll understand why she is not mainstream. they dont want people like her exposing the true through music. almost everyone in the whole music industry is somehow influenced by her. they took her ideas but never credit her for it.

Eric Systrom

She's probably the most important person making music today since n.w.a. or public enemy. What is said isn't palatable for the masses but needs to be said and it's undeniably great interesting construct of time changes that grab the pop ear. It sounds pretty but it ain't a pretty story. I bet she was asked to write a sexy love song and this is what was handed to em and they missed the point entirely. Good for her. Better for us.

stop putting J cole next to KENDRICK, J cole made some songs about how cool he is and a girl friend from high school, the most cringe rapper ever. and other thing, Kendrick is a genius but he do not have any to do with topics that M.I.A create, like war crimes in india. get the fout of here,

JTR Hockey Productions

@ncb NighT Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, EARTHGANG, JID, Denzel Curry, Kenny Mason, Raveena Aurora, Joey Badass, Vince Staples, Schoolboy Q, these are off the top of my head

Not just her

@Jozef Wicks-Sharp if you really want to go hard on that, try make a list of 30 artists with the same relevance and send here please, thanks.

Eric Systrom

@Jozef Wicks-Sharp you're right. She's a mess. She isn't Diamanda Galas. Nobody is except her. She's a low rent Diamanda, and that's something to be. Can we leave it at that? Or do we get more of this cerebral narcissism? You offer not one example and your judgment is weak without one. You and Trump. Go home, you're embarrassing yourself.

Nine Roots

Lol this is about a kidnapping yes , but did you get the message?
